Don't forget, if you find the ideal machine but it falls short in one area you can sometimes work around it e.g. poor trackpad - get an external USB mouse; hard drive is small - get an external drive (cheap as chips these days), or even a large capacity memory stick. I would seriously advise you to visit a store and see/touch/use the machine you fancy before buying - you can always buy online to get the best price once you know which one you want. When you turn on your laptop do you even see bios screen pop up. If you dont then it may be your display has burnt out. Do you have anything plugged into the laptop like another external monitor? Try removing the battery and then power on.

anything with 2.4ghz processor or better and min 4 gb ram. then decent video card You could buy a desktop and an emachine 10inch laptop for the same price as a gaming laptop. The gaming laptop would be too heavy to carry so dont plan to take it to college. anything over 2 kg is very heavy.
