Q:My teacher told me that light is electromagnetic radiation, so shouldnt light have weight then, because electromagnetic radiation all have an accelerating charge that cause them to exsist in vaccums. all charges have a weight no matter how small, (electrons, protons, alpha particles). i dunno im so confused, someone explain to me what causes light to travel at that speeds faster than mechanical waves, and their ability to travel in vaccums and not require matter to undergo a wave motion?
LIGHT MILLS are interesting, like a wind mill, a light mill blades are pushed around by light, worth looking up, the inventor of the light mill wanted to prove light has physical force and possibly mass.
Q:If matter traveling at the speed of light physically becomes light, what would happen to natural sunlight if it were slowed to less than the speed of light, theoretically?
Wrong assumption. Relativity says it would take an infinite amount of energy to accelerate even the smallest imagineable amount of matter to the speed of light, not that the matter becomes light. Interconversion between mass and energy has nothing to do with accelerating the mass to the speed of light, rather it is the anhilation or the mass, with the release of a corresponding amount of energy (that e=Mcsquared thing) and vice versa.
Q:Explain the propagation of light. and a brief summary of particle and wave theories of light. No, it's not my homework.
all phenomena with regards to mild, the place its wave nature is skipped over are a consequence of rectilinear propagation of light. a number of those effects are ---- formation of lunar and image voltaic eclipses, dispersion of light in a prism, working of a digicam, working of a pinhole digicam, working of lenses used for correction of ingenious and prescient, working of microscope, working of telescope, working of periscope, image formation by using around mirrors and lenses, and formation of mirages , looming and so on.,
Q:how does the eye recieve light?
Light enters the eye passing through the cornea (the clear front part of the eye) and lens and then hits this retina. The retina contains cells called photoreceptors. Within the photoreceptors are molecules (rhodopsin) that change their conformation when stimulated by light. This change triggers an electrical impulse which is sent to the brain.
Q:whats better to use in a studio for models? i have hair lights, key light, etc, so why use a flash if i can use continuous lights?
For me, strobes are much better than continuous lighting. Continuous lighting gave me some good results, but it was a lot more work and I had to be much more careful. The lights were hot as heck, hard to work around, always had to shoot on a tripod, aperture had to be wide open and the shutter was almost too slow. Strobes is a different story. Much more control, not hot, rarely use a tripod, can light a much larger area with much less equipment. As far as a flash per se, I never use my flash in the studio at all. There's always a wireless trigger on the hotshoe anyway, so it can't even pop up. The only reason to use it with continuous lights is to fill a little where the continuous lighting isn't cutting it. I never did with continuous lighting. It seemed to mess things up more than it helped. If you have good continuous lighting, you shouldn't ever need it.
Q:I assume you are aware of the different lights known.
Light and its partners can be manipulated in a variety of ways. The most familiar is reflection, in which light is bounced from a surface, the light coming off at the same angle at which it hits, resulting in your undistorted face looking back at you from a mirror. Radiation travels at c only in a vacuum. When it passes into a substance, it slows and can be bent, a common phenomenon called refraction. The effect is easily seen when looking at something through water. Refraction by a curved lens focuses radiation to create an image. Turned to the sky and attached to a detector, the lens becomes an astronomical telescope. (A curved mirror can create a similar image by reflection.) The speed of an electromagnetic wave in a medium depends on its wavelength. Violet light is slowed in a glass of water significantly more than red light. As a result shorter visual waves refract more than do longer ones. Refracted light is therefore dispersed or spread out into its spectrum, creating a rainbow -- or the spectrum of a star. Spectra can also be created by the interference of light waves, the phenomenon that makes the brightly colored patterns seen reflected from a compact audio disc and the halos often observed next to a bright, partly clouded Moon. stars.astro.illinois.edu/sow/spec... Q:is light from a light bulb polarized? Is light reflected from a plane mirror polarized? What about light reflected from a glass plate or shiny laboratory surface?
Light has to be filtered to be polarized. Some sunglasses are polarized. They have tiny slits that let only light which wavelengths travel with its axis parallel with the slits in the fliter. If you take two polarizing filters with slits 90 to each other this blocks almost all the light. to answer your question. None of the above light is polarized unless it has passed through a polarizing filter
Q:I really want to look at Christmas lights this year. Can anyone tell which neighborhood in Houston, TX has the best Christmas light displays? Thanks so much!
Lights in the Heights is always big fun and plenty of lights.
Q:is light necessary? why?
Yes, the only time plants don't use CO2 is when its very humid out...They close the stomata to prevent water loss. Yes, light is necessary. For one, light is a primary source of energy next to glucose. Which plants are made of.
Q:If waves need a medium to be carried through, and light is an example of a periodic wave, then how does light get transported through vacuum, like the light from the sun?
light has both properties of a particle and a wave... photon is what a particle of light is called... it carries energy like a wave... it was thought that light needed a medium to travel through space... they called it Luminiferous aether in early physics... but relativity and quantum theories proved that there is no such thing... and photons travel just fine through the vaccum of space @ about 3.00x 10^8 m/s
