Q:what are solar panels?
Guide okorder.com
Q:Do solar panels add to global warming?
Third Law of Thermodynamics (in normal speak): “Not only can you never get ahead, you can’t even break even.” This is a truism that applies to all activities involving energy exchange (and almost everything else as well). Energy in the form of solar radiation falls on the earth. That energy is absorbed by the planet (everything) and heat results. Some portion of that energy is lost in the absorption process and the net released as heat is less than that absorbed from the sun. This is true in all cases. Solar panels, both photovoltaic and heat collectors are subject to the Third Law and they all lose some of the radiant energy striking them in the process of converting that energy into either hot water (or whatever fluid) or electrical energy. Regardless of the process there is always a net loss of energy. The time delay you mention has no bearing on the total heat gain or loss for the planet. In fact the “solar panel effect” reduces the net energy put back into the ecosystem because it introduces another iteration of energy loss through conversion. The Holy Grail of energy conservation it the ability to use, store or recover the entire amount of energy produced regardless of the source of that energy, burning hydrocarbons, geothermal heat exchange, solar radiation, mice on treadmills …..all forms of energy suffer a net loss in any exchange! If we could avoid that loss we could dramatically reduce the heat lost into the atmosphere or ground water and our net energy gain would also be dramatic! Check out the super cooled circuits in use to reduce resistance in sophisticated electronic equipment for a good example of the energy savings. (Of course the savings do not account for energy lost in the cooling process. In any event NO….. solar panels do not contribute to global warming via their operation. (Their manufacture is another story altogether!)
Q:Anyone have or know someone who has solar panels installed in their home? Is it worth getting?
Solar electricity is electricity, it is just coming from a clean source rather than coal or oil burning generators. The solar panels make DC power, and the inverter converts it to AC and syncs it up with the electricity you buy from the electric company, it all goes into the same pool, there is no difference between them. gr8sk8rgold - Yes, you are right, installing a large solar system on your house can cost as much as a luxury car. What's the return on investment on that car? How has that car improved the environment? People never ask what the ROI is on anything they buy for their house, except for the solar system. Not sure why. However, the return varies greatly depending on where you live. In some European countries, feed-in-tariffs made the return almost immediate. Ontario, Canada just launched a program that can make a solar system earn you money. In the USA, the federal gov't will give you a 30% tax credit on the installed cost, and some states have rebates and incentives that can pay for a large percentage of the system. If you are building a new house and roll the cost into the mortgage, it'll barely change the monthly payments. You should absolutely first invest in conservation. It is much cheaper to save electricity than to make it. For every $ you spend on conservation, that's about $4 less to spend on solar.
Q:how fast does a 25watt solar panel generate power to a battery?
how fast? what does speed have to do with? Electricity travels at close to the speed of light. A house requires kW at a minimum, and 2 to 5 kW at peaks. You can do the division, 5000/25 = 40. Plus, solar panels operate only 4 to 8 hours a day in the winter, so you need to multiply that number by about at least 6 to allow for the dark hours. .
Q:Is it worth getting solar panels fitted on my roof?
If you're talking about photovoltaic panels, for making electricity, they're very expensive. Around here I think it runs around 2 bucks a watt of capacity, just for the panels. Then they have to be installed of course, which means an electrician has to be paid, and you need an inverter also. You can also spring for a bank of deep cycle batteries if you want to be able to store the electricity from the panels to use at night or on cloudy days, but that adds another very large expense. Now if electricity is very, very expensive where you are, you could maybe pay this off in a few years, but I doubt you could pay off 8000 pounds worth of this stuff in only a couple years. If you're talking about solar for water or air heating, well, that's another deal. But those kind of setups cost a lot less to put in, I can't see anyone paying that much for it.
Q:How much power is generated with solar panels?
The amount of electrical energy (kWh) a kW grid connected solar PV system will generate on an average day (kWh/kWp.day). There are some factors that will determine just how much electricity you can create with solar panels for your property - The size of the system, the direction that your roof faces and the angle of the roof comes next. For optimum performance, your panels will need to be on a 35-degree angle, facing south.
Q:so what do you all think about solar panels? are they worth it?
I have panels and they were very much a good investment for me. I should break even in my 6th or 7th year at the latest and they should last at least 20. There were somethings that made it a good investment. My system cost $26K, I got a $0K rebate from my utility and a $2K fed tax credit (it's up to $7800 for this size system now). I also live in a sunny location and have a south facing roof. Plus I plan on living in my house till I die. If you really want to know if it makes good financial sense then get a no obligation quote from a reliable installation company. They will be able to recommend a system that will suit your needs, know about any rebates or tax credits and how much energy your system should create. With all that, your energy usage history and your current rates they will be able to tell you how long it will take for your system to pay for it's self in savings. If you are considering leasing, generally there is no cost savings. They usually size the system so you are paying them the same amount that you would have been paying the energy company.
Q:Do you know that China is the largest producer of solar panels in the world?
I visit hundreds of houses a week in my line of work and there are houses in neighborhoods that aren't the wealthiest that have solar. It might be cheaper than you think.
Q:How do I get a grant passed for my school for solar panels?
it quite is attending to be a actual crutch for Republicans isn't this? Cuts in those Bush era very own loan assure courses won't cover / 4 of the expenditures of in simple terms Irene on my own so shall we toss that argument out interior the trash, the place it belongs. this is devoid of going into the expenditures of the Midwest tornadoes, the fires in Texas and their drought, the fires in New Mexico, and the earthquake interior the Mid Atlantic. And greater to come again. in no way formerly in our historic past have we demanded that catastrophe alleviation for our human beings be tied to cuts in courses, and once you're honest, you will see that many different courses are on their slicing block too, lots of them an identical ones they tried to ram down our throats final time they dug of their heels, and seem how super that became out...our credit status went down. Are they loopy to choose greater?
Q:solar panels and hurricanes?
depends on what light bulbs you have in watts.depends on how many you want on. for the power equation you take P which equals watts x I which equals amps and E which equals volts and you multiply the amps and the volts together to get the watts which the solar panel is generating. for example if you had 7 60 watt light bulbs you would need 420 watts generated. which if you got 50 watt panels each you would need 9 panels. and for what your talking about if you want the stuff to work when the power goes out you are going to need an inverter. not to be confused with a grid ti inverter. and a few batteries i recommend deep cycle batteries that are meant for solar panels. depends on what fan you have.
