Q:is ferrous Gluconate which is an iron supplement equal to 27mg of iron safe to take?: Why aren't you taking a standard prenatal vitamin which has iron in it? They are available at all pharmacies. I would not take anything else unless ordered specifically by your doctor or you discuss it with the pharmacist. Too much or too little of many vitamins can cause birth defects.
