Nope, never heard of it. Best way to buy a high-end vacuum cleaner is to go to a sales and service vacuum store and buy the high-end models a few years old that people changed their minds about. It's like buying a used luxury car, they depreciate much faster than cheaper cars. The service guys can tell you which ones are really worth the bucks.

Ants have exo skeletons. They can survive pretty much everything except for being stomped on. They would most likely get caught in the dust and not be thrown around inside the vacuum cleaner. And im pretty sure vacuum cleaners dont spin at 9 times the speed of sound...

I'm having a carpet cleaner come today because the previous renter left some nasty stains and one of my dogs was recently sick and added to it.I was just wondering, before the carpet cleaner comes am I supposed to vacuum, or is that part of their process?

I would vacuum first. Some carpet cleaners will pick it all up but it's nasty when you have to dump the buckets. Especially when you have pets. It still will be dirty or otherwise you don't have to clean off course but it prevents you from getting clumps and stuff of hair or other debri you might have laying on the floor. There is nothing easier than just to be able to pull your carpet cleaner out of the closet whenever you need to clean something up. You'll love it no matter what.

I, too, wonder at some of these things. Another one is why there is braille on the numbers at the bank drive through ATM. I do know that when the lightbulb is out on the vacuum, it is harder to see the dirt, even in daylight. I guess the lightbulb helps create shadows so you can see the dirt.
