Sta je plastika?[what is plastic]?
- Plastic covers a range of synthetic or semisynthetic polymerization products. They are composed of organic condensation or addition polymers and may contain other substances to improve performance or economics. There are few natural polymers generally considered to be plastics. Plastics can be formed into objects or films or fibers. Their name is derived from the fact that many are malleable, having the property of plasticity.s
What are the origins of those plastics/ plastics container/ plastics in general?
- Most plastics were introduced in the 1960's as by products of the petroleum refining. You had bakelite - resin type plastics which is probably what you are thinking of - also nylon. Bakelite was popular for radio casings. In the old days (ie 40 years ago) in Britian you went shopping and the greengrocer chucked your fruit and veg straight into your shopping bag (which everyone carried with them - meat was wrapped in paper and bottles were glass - often with a deposit paid on them. Supermarkets had not really caught on and there was nothing like the packaging there is now. Things came in glass jars or were canned (popular during the war) - and people bought stuff fresh as not everyone had refrigerators (ice boxes as you might say).s
How would I go about molding plastic?
- This is a great question. Why would someone use the non-wood crown molding? I personally have never used platic, but I did use an engineered MDF type product. I chose it over wood for a very specific reason, my walls weren't perfectly square. With the Medium Density Fiberboard or MDF I got the wiggle room necessary to make a really good fit. MDF is slighly less rigid than its hardwood counterpart. For my application the difference in this area made the difference for the project because I was going to pain the wood a semi-gloss white either way. I strongly recommend the malleability of the MDF over the hardwood. Plastic would be an acceptable option because once you have it in place, nobody is ever going to touch it. Also, I chose a molding that didn't have a lot of intricate cuts of dental work. If I had chosen a more historical molding that had these types of design effects I probably would have considered a plastic over the wood product simply because of price. It is much cheaper to create as compared to the wood products, and as such, you are able to experiment more with it. But once it is on the wall, the casual person shouldn't be able to tell the difference between any of these products if it has been installed correctly. Essentially, install, putty, paint. Once it has been painted, they should look essentially the same.s

Can someone please answer these questions about plastics?
- There are two types of Plastics from thermal perspective, one is thermoplastic and the other one is thermosetting plastic. Most of the electrical switch boards in houses for eg are thermosetting plastics once they are made into a product cannot be melt and reused at all whereas the former can be melt to create a different product if broken. But remember plastics are non-bio-degradable, all plastics produced till date will remain in the earth for centuries. One of the most useful waste man has ever created ! -Log!s
