I'm only 18 and don't know much about cars, but my car was overheating so me and my boyfriend brought it to a mechanic. They told me it needs a new timing belt and water pump and that alone would be like 1450.. From my research that sounds like bullshit. By the way I drive a 2000 neon, is it THAT hard to work on, or am I being ripped off?
i think those neons have problems with the plastic inside the timing cover breaking apart. Some form of plastic guide I think. I've replaced that for about 20-30 dollars and the water pump for around 35 bucks. The shop you went to is raping you as most shops in america do. They claim that they need to eat too yet they want steaks while the rest of us eat soups. You'd be best off finding someone you know who is reputable with car repairs and see if he or she would be interested in doing the repairs. You can find people like this all over the place. You should also perhaps check around with some other shops regarding your car and the repairs. Maybe you'll find someone to do it for around 500 or less. If you were near me I'd do it for 200 tops. and no, the dodge neon isn't crap to work on.....like a little riding mower in my opinion. Is your timing area making noises like something rattling around? If so it's that plastic piece I told you about. But check around and always remember that most of these shops with their outrageous repair costs don't provide vaseline for free.
I'm curious to know, where does the water go after it is sent to a pumping station??
Potable (drinkable) water pumps placed just outside the treatment plant boost pressure in the water mains, where it eventually gets to homes, businesses and hydrants via the pipe network. Most sewers flow by gravity (downhill) to a waste water treatment plant (or septic field). But if an area is too low to be serviced by a gravity sewer, an ejector pump is set at the bottom of a collection well which pumps the wastewater to a higher elevation in a pressure pipe called a force main. A good pump station will kick on about 4 or 5 times an hour and run for several minutes. Eventually it outlets to a manhole in a gravity system and ultimately the treatment plant.
I have a 1996 Volvo 960, wagon. I need to replace the steering and water pump on my wagon, and I am wondering if any how can give me instructions on how to do so...
the water pump on this car is driven by the timing belt so follow timing belt replacement procedures for this, keeping in mind that you should also replace the belt, idler pulley, tension pulley, and gas-tensioner at the same time.once there the pump is held by 7 bolts and replacement is straightforward[gasket surfaces must be perfectly clean and as this is an interference fit [valve bender] engine the timing belt procedure must critically be adhered too. as for the power steering foamy fluid means one of two things, either you have a leak in the system [pump, hoses, rack. causing the pump to cavatate due to low fluid or someone added a fluid that doesn't belong, requiring a flush of the system [once again if fluid was added there is probabley a leak somewhere] if indeed the pump is found to be bad [very rare] after removing the serpintine belt tensioner the pump can be unbolted and removed. good luck
And would a water pump off any 302/5.0 fit the 1985 F-150 302/5.0 whether it was from a Mustang ,or Crown Victoria
probably okorder , look up each vehicle , check part numbers on waterpump. for all the labor involved, i would get a new one, can't be all that much $$ . changing coolant every 24 months, or so is the key to waterpumps that last forever. fresh clean antifreeze keeps waterpump properly lubricated, dirty antifreeze will wear out bearing very quickly.
the outboard runs fine and pumps water out with muffs on but when i put it in the water it doesn't pump any water at all. could it be that the impeller needs replacing? what do you think?thanks
Replacing okorder /
I took my 04 Grand Prix to the mechanic for a coolant change. My car had never drip coolant until after the coolant change . I took my car today to the same mechanic and he told me that the problem was the water pump and wants to charge me 70 dollars. Could changing the coolant affect the water pump. Or did the mechanic damaged the water pump on purpose.
Changing coolant would not make it start leaking. MAYBE if someone before had used some sort of stop leak garbage, but that's pretty unlikely. That car has probably been around the block for some time, it's likely just coincidence. However, it shouldn't be hard to find one of your friends that can crawl under the car and confirm what the problem is. Could just be a loose hose clamp.
The coolant in my '92 Le Baron is leaking, so I may have to change or replace my water pump.., any ideas?
Buy pump, throw in trunk. sell car. buy 1995 honda civic.
The pump assembly and the pump are not a thing
The pump assembly and the pump are the same, just name different, as all the car parts are called assembly, the pump is the same, called water pump assembly. Also, the pump half assembly is the water pump head.A pump is a machine that transports liquids or pumps liquids. It will be the prime mover of the mechanical energy or other external energy transfer to the liquid, the liquid energy increase, mainly used to transport liquids including water, oil, alkali liquid, emulsion, suspension emulsion and liquid metal, but also transport liquid, gas mixtures and liquids containing suspended solids. Pump performance of technical parameters are flow, suction, lift, shaft power, water power, efficiency, etc.; according to the different principles of work can be divided into volume pumps, vane pumps and other types. Displacement pump is to use its studio volume changes to transfer energy; vane pump is to use the rotating blade and water interaction to transfer energy, there are centrifugal pumps, axial flow pumps and mixed flow pumps and other types.
