Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. Whereas the Axminster yarn is woven into each weft and then cut to the required pile height and then reinserted when that colour is needed again –the Wilton carpet yarn is a continuous strand woven all the way through.

- Q:ive got 2 rugs in my kitchen i need to wash but they have a rubber back and im worried if i put them in the washier the rubber will wear off. last time i washed my fathers rugs for him the rubber started to come off in small chunks (it was also the first time they had ever been washed) and i dont want the same to happen to mine. im not worried about drying them id just lay them outside on the porch rail and let them air dry. does anyone have any suggestions? if i hand wash them will they get just as clean as if they were washed in the washer?
- Wet the rugs, outside, with warm water, whip up a couple of drops of dish soap in a gallon container, brush the rugs with a wooden handle brush, and then rinse with the garden hose to remove the soil and the soap. Allow the rugs to drip dry and bask in the sun.
- Q:Best auto carpet cleaner
- Remove the seats Remove the carpet Reinstall the driver's seat Toss the carpet into the trunk and drive it to a coin-operated car wash Pressure wash the daylights out of it Leave it in the sun to dry thoroughly Now is a good time to do some serious cleaning in the car, with all the seats out of the way Reinstall dry carpet Enjoy
- Q:I got some nail polish on our carpeting. How do I clean it off? It's red nail polish on light tan carpet and it looks terrible!
- You can usually just cut the nail polish off with scissors. Dissect any clumps first by cutting them in half or thirds or smaller. Then just cut the very tips of the fibers. Work slowly. Don't cut a single millimeter more than you have to and pull up while cutting. This will help prevent divots in the carpet. Try your best to cut just one or two fibers at a time...not whole clumps. This will work unless you have already used a solvent and worked the polish further into the carpet. Also...cutting the polish works on shag, frieze, and plush carpets, but not loopy carpets, like Berber. If you've worked the polish further into the carpet or if you have a loopy carpet, you can fix the problem with a carpet transplant. Carpet transplant: 1. Cut the stained area out using a razor knife. Be careful to cut only the carpet, not the padding under it. 2. Cut a replace piece of carpet from somewhere no one sees, like from inside of a closet. If you have leftover carpet that matches, use this. 3. Trace around the ruined piece of carpet on a piece of paper. This will be your template for the new piece. You want an EXACT match in both shape and size. 4. Use your template to cut the replace piece. 5. Glue or sew the new piece into place. If you use glue, make sure it is waterproof glue. If you would rather sew the piece to the existing carpet, you will need a curved needle. The repair should be undetectable once you're done.
- Q:Ok ... So I have two messy boys at home, a 2 year old and a 23 year old. They are, like I said, messy. There's nothing I can do to make them cleaner, so I was thinking about gettinga long rug to go in front of our couch. The couch is a dark green, our carpet is a light beige. Would that look retarded, or like a blatant cover up? And if I get one, what color should it be? Our walls are a light off white.
- If it were me I would get a rug that would fit under the entire couch like giant place mat. Match with accent colors in the room. If I may, to cut down on the mess, I think junior needs to start looking for an apartment. hope this helps
- Q:Hi. We're currently redoing our spare bedroom complete with new carpet, new paint, and new molding. We've ripped up the old carpet and removed the old molding from the walls. We plan to paint next weekend. My question is, do we install the new molding before or after the new carpet is installed (in about two weeks after painting is done)? Which is the best way to go?
- Hey. this is all preference, carpet layers like to do the carpet first so they don't scratch up the base the backing is very rough. also if you are repainting the base be for it is hung it is easy to touch up after you hang it and after carpet. also don't compress the trim on to the carpet very tight it makes it hard to remove later lightly set and nail. So if you hang the base before carpet and paint it in place make sure that you space the trim no more than a 1/2 use small blocks (little chunks of trim usually work very well for this) as spacers the carpet finishes nice if the carpet tucks under the trim. If the carpet is a Berber or commercial grade bring base a little lower So what ever works for your schedule it can go both ways. good luck! If the trim is up already tell your carpet layer to be careful.
- Q:nan
- Clean with a powerful vacuum cleaner.
- Q:Can anyone suggest the best carpet cleaner ( aside from a steam cleaner...) for a light-tan-old carpet? The stains are from the previous owners; but, also, are over active puppies bladder... Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreicated... Thanks...
- Potassium permanganate. It will turn everything purple, but it will oxidize the hell out of anything in or on the carpet. Those stains will be gone! But your carpet will be purple.
