- For a 2.2 4 cylinder read below: Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system. Remove serpentine drive belt, then the alternator and bracket. Remove water pump pulley attaching bolts, then remove the pulley, Fig. 20. Remove water pump attaching bolts, then the water pump. Reverse procedure to install. For a 3.3 6 cylinder read below: Disconnect battery ground cable. Drain cooling system, then remove serpentine drive belt. Remove lower radiator hose and heater hose at pump. Remove water pump pulley attaching bolts. Long bolt is removed through access hole located in the body side rail. Remove water pump pulley. Remove water pump attaching bolts, then the water pump, Fig. 15. Reverse procedure to install, torquing bolts to specifications Hope this was helpful!

- Q:Hi, I'm looking for an affordable pump that can be used to circulate heated water (60 C) through a 12pipe with a diameter about the size of a pencil. Is there a pump out there to match this application? I've come across some small fountain pumps, but they need to be submerged in the 60 C water bath and I'm not sure about the temperature tolerances of it. - You could try that pump but I don't think you get enough pressure. They can pump quite a bit of volume but don't have any pressure. It might be able to pump 130gph but check and see at what head. The head is what it can pump vertically. Could be 130gph at 3ft head but give it a go, might work just the way you want it to. An inline pump probably better to set up than a submerged one.

- The belt driven pump is operating all the time the engine is running. This takes some of the HP of the engine and causes wear and tear of the belt and the pump. The electric driven water pump is operated on demand from the water thermostat and only runs when the water temp. rises above the setting and shuts off again on returning to the setting. Saves engine HP and pump wear and tear...It's much more efficient.

Both open and closed pumps provide cooling water on the side of the machine, just because the requirements for water quality are different. - if you have never did it before ,yes its a pretty hard job to do,and there's more involved than just replacing the pump on it,one thing that might help you is to get a repair manual on the car ,they are very helpful and give tips on how to do it right and not have to do it over again,for someone who has never done this before though and doesn't have the right tools its a pretty hard job,good luck.

- most water pumps have a small port hole in the pump housing. when your internal seal and/or bearing begins to wear out, you will get a small amount of fluid seeping from this hole. CAUTION, this leak will get much worse, not better. address this problem promptly. the price of repair might be in line depending on parts availability and your location.many mechanics in my area charge up to $40 an hour labor plus materials.
- Q:I have a leak coming from the water pump that flows down on the side of the AC compressor before landing on the ground. I cannot verify exactly where the leak is coming from on the pump, but I am sure it is the pump leaking because it also sounds bad like rattling. - It was prob just a cheap water part. make sure you get one with a cast iron impeller
