Q:I have a water leak, and not from the radiator. It is on the side of the motor where the timing belt is. Could it be the water pump? or possibly freeze plugs? If so where are these?: Its located under the timing belt cover. Time to replace both the belt and water pump while you or your technician are in there. $500 at dealers typically.

It seems that there is a chance that the water pump was lost on the process.I looked on line and to buy from the dealership, these pieces together would cost me around $70.What would it be a fair price for the service? (thinking that I was unlucky enough to lose the water pump?How do I know if my water pump is good and they are only changing it to make me spend more money???I am a girl (foreign student), and don't understand of car, or know any repair shop that could take care of that...Thanks!!!: You have either a bad belt tensioner or a bad bearing in the alternator. But my guess is the tensioner due to the fact the belt was placed on the alternator and the 1st mechanic made no mention of a bad bearing in the alternator. With the belts off right now, just open the hood and spin both the tensioner and the alternator. They should both spin freely with no resistance. If you find resistance, then you found the part that is breaking the belts. good luck....

Q:The water pump gasket in my '98 Forester (130k) recently began to leak, and I will be replacing it in the next couple days. I noticed a stream of bubbles in my overflow container, though, and am wondering if it might be bad head gaskets making the air bubbles. The bubbles only appear after the engine is warmed up, like after a drive around town - there aren't any bubbles when the engine is cold.Is it possible that these air bubbles are coming from the leaking water pump? I hope so, because I'd much rather replace the pump than the head gaskets!: Yes it is from the leaky water pump. Because it is leaking it will most prob be sucking air. If it was a head gasket you would notice it when cold as well

Q:I have to replace the hot water recirculating pump in my house. It is made in Hungary and the Manufacturer's letters look almost Russian. The only words in English are the spec's (amp draw, voltage, etc.) This house was built in 1998 and the plumber's no longer in business. It looks like it just threads onto a quot;capbut I don't want to start using pipe wrenches and just mangle it (it's very difficult to get to also). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike: particular you are able to. in certainty there's a recirculating equipment called a Polaris water heater which could furnish warm water for all your place carry desires and warmth your place too. the cost of operationg a Polaris equipment is extra cost-effective than an on call for warm water heater.

Q:Hi, I need a 12/24v dc submersible water pump that can pump up to 15m but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Any help would be more than appreciated!: It's going to be hard to get any DC pump tht can pump 15m (45+ feet). Get and inverter and get a 115v/220v AC pump to do the job. Those are much more plentiful. I know it's more to buy and install, but it is what it is.

Q:Im having a hell of a time getting the water pumps to work, even when located right next to a water source (i.e. river, lake, ocean, etc). Ive tried various locations and it has never worked for me. ive made sure the game isnt paused and that the pump has power but nothing works. its not as simple to use as the water pumps in the previous sim city games. Can anyone give me a hint? ive been looking everywhere for a definitive answer.: Depends on the version. Older versions of Sim City you just hook up power to it and make sure it is next to a water source. In more recent versions there is a desalination plant if I recall. Put it next to the salt water then it works. Make sure the plant is right next to the water source because if it is even one block away it won't work. I learned that by mistake. If it is RIGHT NEXT to the water then the source may be too small. You have to try out various combinations depending on the version. One thing though is do not put a regular water plant next to ocean because it won't work.

Q:water pump pulley has slight wobble in it. not seeing water yet....is bearing going bad: either the bearings are going out, or the pulley is bent. either way you should go ahead and change the water pump, they are cheap and if you wait it will be a problem later when you get stranded. good luck

Cheers.PSgt; If I had to pay to get the power supply changed from wire to USB then I could if anyone knows who could do this.: The USB output has a 5V power supply. USB2 delivers up to 500mA and later versions may be 900mA. USB hubs start off with less than this (100mA) but change as they are initialised. Some dedicated USB charging ports supply up to 1.8A. There are some USB power cables that take the output from 2 ports in a sort of Y harness (first link for example). The result of all this is that only a very small pump would run from most USB ports. I did find 2 rated at 5W and 8W but the voltage was not shown. I suspect they were mains operation, meant for large water bottles. If they were 5V they would use 1A and 1.6A respectively, so only run from special USB charge points or double cables, and only in some cases anyway. I assume you want to run from a Laptop/Notebook battery for convenience. The point is that even if the USB port can supply the correct voltage and current the battery would be emptied very quickly. It is probably cheaper to get a suitable pump, then power it from a separate and more suitable rechargeable battery or mains adaptor (wall wart), whatever it takes, taking into account how long it should run with a single charge. This is about the battery voltage and the capacity in ampere hours - the number of hours it can supply a given current. D size rechargeable (Ni-MH) would run a 6V x 6W motor using 1A for about 6 hours. C size cells are half that, and AA cells about half again. It takes 4 cells to get 5V. Get them as a pack though or at least with a battery holder, as they cannot be soldered. Then you need a proper charger. Recent laptop/notebook batteries are lithium ion types, 10.8V and 4.8Ah, so deliver 1A @10.8V for 4h more or less. Other types worth considering are for cordless drills.

Q:94 f150,302. my pump is still leaking after doin the job twice. its a new pump, the first time i used the red silicone between pump and plate,both sides of gasket,and the housing on the block. leaked. then did it again with high tack gasket cement and still leaks. i cleaned all metal both times with brake clean before installing. same with thermostat housing,small leak. ive done 100s of pumps over the years,no problems, so please no rude remarks on mechanical ability. what could it be? it leaks up front of the motor above the crossmember where ya cant actually see the leak,its not a freeze plug. bolts are torqued. any ideas ? thanks: Pay an automotive repair shop to do it. Then it is their problem. Even the best technicians need help once in a while. Yes it costs 3x as much, but no more headache for you.

Q:My truck turned off by itself and a bunch of steam and smoke came out and my radiator was dry. To keep it running i had to have the engine revved and at a stop sign hold the brake down. and slightly press. I'm assuming its the water pump however. It started yesterday as the colder weather started. What my question is what do you think it is and if you have experience with water pumps, how hard is it to replace i found one for $14: that don,t sound like the water pump. if it was the pump then it would overheat and leak out. check to see where it,s leaking at. if it,s leaking from the pump then it will have to be changed even though it still might not help it to idle. it,s not really that hard to change the pump on a 351W . the hardest part is getting into it. you might have to remover some stuff so you can work. the belt and water pump pulley will have to come off and the fan but that should let you into the bolts.
