- The SD / MMC / RS-MMC are the format of the Memory Card. You will need to find out the format of your own memory card and put it in correct slot of the card reader. Most of the card reader has more than 1 slot for different type of memory cards. Generally, the memory capacity is not an issue for the card reader except for the older design that can't read High Capacity cards.

Some newer computers and printers have multiple slots for different flash memory cards (i.e. Compact Flash, Sony Memory Stick, SD, xD, etc). You can also use these cards as storage media for .mp3 files to load onto some .mp3 players. - Yes. It works very well. I see it being used at street fairs, craft shows. I used one for a while but switched to a conventional portable card reader because it prints receipts, which most people like. It's common these days for people not to carry a lot of cash.
