FAQ

1. Is the sample available?
Yes, samples can be sent for test if you need.

Q:Ok.. I was wondering if it's possible for me to recycle baked bean cans (steel)? And if so in Western Australia (that's where I live)?I love baked beans... and I also like skateboarding, so I thought if I kept my baked bean cans, that I could get them recycled somewhere and turn it into something I could skate on (rail, etc.). I'm just curious to know if all this is possible...Cheers. :)
Most baked beans are cooked with pork and include a piece in the can. Depending on what kind of vegetarian you are, you could eat them and simply remove the piece of pork, or, Bush's has vegetarian baked beans which are obviously cooked without the meat seasoning. They are very good, and of course beans are an excellent and needed source of protein in a vegetarian diet.
Q:I live in the Black Hills and I need to re-side my cottage. I like the look of vinyl. I've heard pros and cons about both steel and vinyl. Is steel really that easy to dent? It just doesn't look as 'clean' as vinyl. Also what 3 color combos do you like? My cottage has shutters.
I have steel siding, and it is a pain in the butt. It's much harder to keep clean than vinyl. As for color combos, I love mine, sunny yellow with off white trim, and brick red for the doors. I added new brushed chrome doorknobs and brushed chrome rails around the porch, and it looks awesome. I am planning to have the steel siding replaced with vinyl though.
Q:if someone wanted to melt cast steel or iron into small-relatively simple shapes such as rod-tapered rod-or etc... how would you go about melting the steel/iron what would the mold need to be made of?
The other answers are correct. But don't attempt this unless you have lots of experience.
Q:I need to construct a table with three columns, which states the name of the steel, its compositions (e.g. Fe and C), and its special properties for a variety of different steel products.Help me please, a site with info would be great, explanations would be even better.
Steel is an alloy consisting mostly of iron, with a carbon content between 0.2% and 2.1% by weight, depending on the grade. Carbon is the most common alloying material for iron, but various other alloying elements are used, such as manganese, chromium, vanadium, and tungsten.[1] Carbon and other elements act as a hardening agent, preventing dislocations in the iron atom crystal lattice from sliding past one another. Varying the amount of alloying elements and form of their presence in the steel (solute elements, precipitated phase) controls qualities such as the hardness, ductility, and tensile strength of the resulting steel. Steel with increased carbon content can be made harder and stronger than iron, but is also less ductile. H.
Q:What are the different types of surface treatments for steel coils?
Steel coils can undergo various surface treatments to enhance their appearance, protect against corrosion, and improve durability. Common treatments include: 1. Hot-dip galvanizing: Immersing steel coils in molten zinc creates a protective layer, offering exceptional corrosion resistance and resilience in harsh environments. 2. Electro-galvanizing: Electroplating a thin zinc layer onto the steel surface provides good corrosion resistance and enhances aesthetics. 3. Organic coating: Coating steel coils with organic materials like paints, lacquers, or polymer films offers corrosion, abrasion, and UV protection, while providing a wide range of color options. 4. Phosphating: Treating the steel surface with a chemical process forms a layer of phosphate crystals, improving coating adhesion and corrosion resistance. 5. Chromating: Also called passivation, this treatment involves applying a chromate conversion coating, enhancing corrosion resistance and offering a decorative finish. 6. Oiling: Applying a thin layer of oil to steel coils during storage and transportation prevents corrosion and can be easily removed before further processing. 7. Pickling: Immersing steel coils in an acid solution removes impurities and scale, improving surface finish and preparing the steel for subsequent processing or coatings. 8. Tin plating: Electroplating a layer of tin onto steel coils provides excellent corrosion resistance, solderability, and aesthetic appeal. These treatments are just a few examples of the many available for steel coils. The choice depends on specific application requirements, including desired appearance, corrosion resistance, and environmental conditions.
Q:Edward Humphrey wants to know... Can I use steel roofing on an older house?
steel roofing is a very logical option when considering replacing a residential roof. Keep in mind that in addition to the cost of the actual metal roofing panel, most likely, in order to qualify for the warranties associated with these products, you must also use their accessories and adhere strictly to their installation instructions. If you have a very cut up house, lots of dormers and valleys, etc, the costs to waterproof these areas before installing can get to be costly, but as far as a straight forward reroof over existing substrate, costs are very competitive. As much as I see a lot recommend going over existing shingles, I prefer to strip the existing shingles, and check the sheathing, before waterproofing and roof installation.
Q:I've seen on TV that stainless steel laminate sheets can be purchased and and used to cover appliances to give it a faux stainless steel look. They mentioned it was important to not have any bubbles (of course) and to work slowly. It's easy to do on a dishwasher, but what about the fridge? The handles are in the way? Do you have to take the handles off? Can anyone find a tutorial for me?
There okorder appliance paint 2. What you are referring to really is not laminate steel sheets, it's actually more along the lines of shelf liner paper looks like steel with sticky back film that you peel and stick. Place against product and begin to peel down slowly using squeegee or credit card to smooth out bubbles.Sheets can be purchased rangingin size on OKorder for $9.99 + dependent on size. Called stainless steel appliance film can buy a roll for $60.00 on OKorder (normally sells for $100.00) one roll will cover 3 average sized kitchen appliances. Hope this helps!
Q:What are the main factors that affect the quality of steel coils?
The main factors that affect the quality of steel coils include the composition and purity of the steel used, the manufacturing process and techniques employed, the level of heat treatment and cooling, the presence of any impurities or defects, and the overall handling and storage conditions.
Q:Hey everyone.I have a whetstone and a honing steel. I purposely tried to make one of my knives less sharp twice to see how well the whetstone and honing steel would work.It even seemed that when I was using my whetstone it wasn't as sharp as it was when I used my honing steel, but when I also used my honing steel after having sharpened my knife on the whetstone, it was razor sharp.I was wondering, is the whetstone only supposed to be used when the knife edge isn't as flat anymore or something? Like, only when it doesn't really have an edge anymore? Please explain your answer. Thanks everyone.
In general, whetstones will actually remove metal in order to sharpen a blade, and the angle they're used at is important too. A steel will just straighten the blade between uses, not actually remove metal. The effect is to make it sharper than it was just before, but only because it's straighter. Using a knife makes the very thin edge kind of flatten or even fold over a bit, or get wavy, etc...so the steel just straightens it back out (imagine what happens when the very thin blade gets pressed down repeatedly on a cutting board, or even cuts through foods repeatedly). (A whetstone is used only when steeling finally just isn't enough to get the blade sharp as needed.) .
Q:What kind of steel should be used for constructing a steel building?
In steel construction there are many standard types of steel used. Lots of different factors contribute to your steel choice. How tall is the building? Are you in an earthquake zone? Steel for the columns, or the beams? You might want to refer to the American Institute of Steel Construction for more information, they are the governing body in the US.
