- Q:Okay so yesterday i mixed dawn soap and water together and scrubbed the spots on my floor to get these crusty spots that were left on my carpet from the carpet cleaner. the crusty spots went away but in their place small spots (smaller than the crusty resdue from before.) were left over and they were now sticky! I than tried washing off those spots with anti bacterial wipes which didn't do anythign, i vaccumed my floor twice and today i used a combination of baking soda and vingar to get it ou of my floor. Now i have merely one or two small spots but im aware carpet cleaner is rather toxic and hazardous and so I wanted to ask if it's truly carpet cleaner resdue stuck to my floor or if it's simply the dawn soap that won't come out. Please help for I am rather worried.
- Dawn soap is likely the culprit if it's sticky. Dish soap, especially dawn, has heavy sudsing agents in it. If you have an extractor carpet machine, go over it several times with plain water, and it should come out. Don't add any more chemicals to it. You are just adding to the problem. Depending on how strong the soap solution was, you got work ahead of you if you don't have the carpet extractor.
- Q:I had the rug from work about a year ago so its pretty old but every time i go to hoover its got a large amount of white powder under it! i have no idea what it is at first i had the gross idea that it was bits of skin but there is no way that much could accumilate in such a short timewhat is it and can i get rid of it
- You said the rug was old. It could be the rug itself degrading, especially the material the fibers are woven into or if it has a latex backing, the latex itself. Also it could be years of dirt hoovering hasn't been able to remove filtering down and out thru the bottom.

- 3D pad, surrounding pad are materials of multi-layer synthesis, the middle is a layer of EVA foam which will dent after being stepped for some time, and four sides will go upwards, sometimes it will block the brake pedal. the wet foam is not easy to be dried, so there is will be smell left~ ~ ~ all in all, pad with the foam layer is not good.

- 1] find out what is underneath it - don't rip up the carpet, find out first. 2] find a carpet company near you, that sells remnants. Measure your room exactly first - you can sometimes find a great deal! 3] get carpet steam cleaner or have professionally cleaned. 4] get an inexpensive area rug to put over carpet. 5] get a job, and buy your own carpet!

- Changing the carpet is the easy part. Removing all that's holding it in is the hard part. You can google for automotive carpet and order it online. You can expect to pay 120-175 bucks for a carpet depending on who you order it from. (Try JC Whitney) Order the carpet that comes with the padding attached to it. Once you get the carpet, the hard part begins. Take the seats out, and unbolt the seat belts from the floor. Remove the center console and any trim around the edges such as the sill plates that hold the carpet in. Take care in any wiring you encounter, remember where it is. Once everything holding down the edges of the carpet have been removed, the carpet comes out pretty easy. Vacuum up any loose debris then install the new carpet with padding and put everything back in that you took out. An experienced installer would take 3-4 hours since the center console is the hardest part. If you have never attempted this before, expect a full day at best, probably two to complete the job. No other materials are needed unless there are pieces of carpet that are glued to the kick panels in the front. Then a can of 3M spray adhesive would cover that.
- Q:My light colored carpets have left over soap stains from when a cleanser was used to remove pet stains. Now there are white stains on my carpets. I have tried filling a carpet cleaner with hot water and going over the stains with that but that seems to have just spread the left over soap stain. HELP! How do I remove these stains for good?
- Unless it is an excess of cleanser, which can be rinsed, it sounds as though you have bleached out some color from your carpet. If it is the latter, that is permanent. Sorry.
