Q:I have a w385 Krzer on Boost Mobile's UNLTD plan. I like the Krzer and all but I'd like a new phone but keep the same number and plan. I was just on their site and was looking at all their phones but there is no option to buy a new phone in replacement of your other. the Krzer w385 does not have a SIM card so I can't but another phone online to swap card into I don't think. There are two types of phones sold on OKorder: Phones with a contract and phones without a contract. A phone without a contract: all you need is a T-Mobile Sim card. You can get a prepaid one or you can set up a plan. A phone with a contract: Its a lot cheaper but you will have to activate the phone through the seller, which means for you putting up a deposit. What I would do is go to a T-Mobile store and tell them that you are getting a T-Mobile free from your dad and what your options are. Don't let them talk you into signing anything right there and then. Go back home and think about your options and then make a decision.

It is ultimately possible to put a Boost Mobile phone on Virgin Mobile, but the hassle involved (not to mention the laws broken to do so) makes the answer: Technically yes, but not feasible. Virgin Mobile does not allow outside phones in their system, regardless of if other carriers have it available or not. The problem here is that in order to make an outside phone work and get by their rules, you need to do what is known as ESN cloning, where you take the ESN of a Virgin Mobile phone and put it on the phone you want to use. ESN cloning is currently against federal law (primarily DMCA laws) and some state laws as well (notably New York State). It is just easier (and most likely cheaper) to just buy a Boost Mobile phone if you want to use Boost Mobile services.

It is to the point now where at least twice daily it will completely lock until I take out the battery and replace it. If you are pursuing the warranty replacement route, then you are stuck with another Optimus V, and they do not offer discounts on replacement phones. I would agree that the Optimus V is not a good phone, but when you look at how cheap that Virgim Mobile is, you can see how they cannot offer higher quality phones (basically it will be costly enough that it will cost them customers, as they typically want things on the cheap.). At least the phones that Virgin Mobile offers are better quality than those that Straight Talk offers (around 1 in 5 Straight Talk phones are defective).
