Product Description:

Hot Rolled SteelA rolling process at temperatures over 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit is use to create hot

rolled steel. Steel products in Massachusetts that have been processed in this manner will have a

blue-gray finish that feels rough to the touch.

Hot rolled steel actually reconfigures itself during the cooling process, giving the finished product

looser tolerances than the original material and when compared to cold rolled steel products. Hot

rolled steel is more malleable, allowing it to be forced  into a variety of different shapes

Uses: Hot rolled products like hot rolled steel bars are used in the welding and construction trades

to make railroad tracks and I-beams, for example. Hot rolled steel is used in situations where

precise shapes and tolerances are not required.

Q:Why is steel denser than wood?
Steel is made up mostly of iron with a very small amount of carbon added. Iron is a metallic element with a high atomic number which means it's molecules contain lots of particles and consequently it is relatively heavy, or dense. Wood on the other hand is made up mostly of carbon which is a non-metallic element with a lower atomic number and fewer particles in each molecule, and consequently it is a lot lighter or less dense than steel.
Q:Why not use stainless steel to make coins?
Stainless steel has been used by some countries to make coins, but it's not an ideal metal. When a coin is struck, a die comes down and strikes the blank with many tons of force (the blank is also sitting on top of another die--one has the image on the obverse (front) of the coin, while the other die has the image of the reverse of the coin). When the die strikes the blank, the force causes the metal in the blank to flow into the recesses of the die. The problem with stainless steel is that it doesn't want to flow into the die. To get an image, either the relief (how high the raised portion of the design will be) has to be very low, and the coin has to have a simple design, or they have to greatly increase the pressure of the strike. This slows the coining press down, and greatly shortens the life of the dies.
Q:Titanium vs Surgical Steel in Earrings?
There is a lot of debate in the piercing community about guns vs. needles. In my opinion, needle piercing from a reputable piercing shop is the best choice. This is because guns can harbor a lot of bacteria, especially if they are used on more than one person which they often are. Yes, guns are fast and efficient, but they can be unsafe at times. My first lobe holes were done with a gun. I cried forever because it burned so bad...even after days. They lady was so impersonal, and they used sterling silver which I found out that day I was allergic to. My other 4 holes are were done with a needle. I had trouble healing them because I used sterling silver (my stupid fault), but besides the allergy, they healed beautifully and were virtually pain free. I would recommend getting them pierced at an actual shop, not the mall. If I were you, I would chose niobium metal or titanium to avoid any type of allergy that could happen. Choose studs and not rings because they are easier to heal. Good luck!
Q:What are the brands that sell 100% stainless steel cookware(interior and exterior)?
You do not want 100% stainless steel cookware, because it's a poor conductor of heat. All high quality stainless cookware is layered with stainless steel only on the exterior and interior surfaces, while having at least an internal heat spreading core of aluminum or copper. Not all stainless steel is sufficiently ferrous (magnetic) to work with electric inductive cooktops, so some stainless cookware adds an additional layer of ferrous steel in addition to the thermal cores. You also wouldn't want a slow cooker that's 100% stainless steel, because the uneven heating would cause food to burn more quickly. They are usually made of ceramic stoneware for a reason, even heating. Besides, a stainless pressure cooker (with alum/copper) core can in less than an hour everything a slow cooker does in 3+ hours, with better flavor, color, and nutritional content. By the way, the Prestige stainless cookware isn't 100% stainless, of course, and that's a GOOD thing.
Q:Do you think there is a way to mix liquid concrete and molten steel/metal to create solution that is stronger?
Mixing hot steel with liquid concrete would be very hazardous to your health. Steal in a molten state would flash the water in the concrete mix into steam and the steam would blow concrete and steel out of your mold. This would be about like being shot with a shotgun. This occurred in a steel mill near me some years ago on a rainy day when some steel splashed from a ladle and landed on a puddle of water, part of the siding was blown off the building and one worker sent to the hospital.
Q:Is T-304 Stainless Steel dependable?
Surprisingly any stainless steel is considered soft or tough metal. A hardness tester will bare this out. It resists work hardening which means you can bend it many more times than cold rolled or hot rolled steel before it will break. Your choice is a good one for your intended purpose.
Q:Can I shoot steel shot out of my Remington 870 express?
I shoot steel out of my 870 express all the time.
Q:Scientific answers please: Are there various grades of stainless steel?
Unfortunately the stainless property does not make a 100% superior blade, unless you are not too concerned with how it performs. Generally speaking the mineral that allows steel not to stain is chromium so the higher content of chromium the more shiny and less likely to stain. The best performing blades however are the ones resistant to fatigue that usually contain high silica levels like japanese blades. Chromium on the other hand does make a less flexible and lower quality blade that also needs to be thicker, so it comes down to what will you be using it for.
Q:types of stainless steel?
Types of stainless steel There are over 150 grades of stainless steel, of which fifteen are most common. The AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) defines the following grades among others: - 200 Series—austenitic iron-chromium-nickel-manganese alloys - 300 Series—austenitic iron-chromium-nickel alloys Type 301—highly ductile, for formed products. Also hardens rapidly during mechanical working. Type 303—free machining version of 304 via addition of sulfur Type 304—the most common; the classic 18/8 stainless steel Type 316—Alloy addition of molybdenum to prevent specific forms of corrosion - 400 Series—ferritic and martensitic alloys.
Q:Why can't you use steel wool with polyurethane?
Steel wool will leave invisible pieces of metal embedded in the finish, no matter how much you try to wipe it off. When you cover it with the polyurethane, it is trapped and turns dark over time, ruining the look of the table. Yeh, so follow the directions exactly for the best finish. Good luck!! : /
