Q:aluminum foil?
The shiny side is slightly better reflector of heat. Face that side of the foil in the appropriate direction. To keep things cold, put the shiny side on the outside -- that will reflect incoming heat. To keep things warm, face the shiny side inward toward the hot food -- to reflect the heat that is trying to escape back into the food. Note that people often bake potatoes with the shiny side out -- that is because it makes for a better (prettier) presentation. In reality, baking them that way reflects the incoming heat on the outside, slightly slowing the cooking process. Of course, in reality, which side of the foil faces where makes little difference. It does make for lively conversation, though.
Q:How would you write the formula for aluminum sulfate and calcium chloride?
Aluminium sulfate: Molecular formula Al2(SO4)3·16H2O Calcium chloride: Molecular formula CaCl2
Q:Bohr Model?! Aluminum?
An atom is made up of protons. electrons and neutrons. The protrons and neutrons are located in the nucleus, while the electrons are located on the shells outside the nucleus. Think of the shells as orbits, orbits which can only hold a certain amount of electrons. In the Bohr's model of Aluminum there will be 2 elctrons on the first shell, 8 electrons on the second shell, and 3 electrons on the last shell.
Q:What keeps things colder- plastic wrap or aluminum foil?
Aluminum foil. It is thicker, and metal retains heat/cold longer than the thin film of plastic would. I actually use both when I freeze things like lasagna...I use a layer of plastic wrap on it first, then a layer of foil over the top. It creates an extra (albeit fine) layer of insulation.
Q:How can you turn aluminum oxide into Al?
The problem is that in an oxygen rich environment, like the air, then aluminum will instantly form a protective coating of aluminum oxide on any freshly prepared surface. So, mechanical sanding or abrasion will be of little help. You could abrade the surface inside of a container where there is no oxygen. That would require the construction of an airtight glovebox, then fill it with N2 or an inert gas. The aluminum oxide coating will dissolve in very basic solutions. Aluminum metal is also very reactive with water. 2Al + 6H2O -- 2Al(OH)3(s) + 3H2(g) In Drano, the basic solution dissolves the Al2O3 coating, which allows the Al metal to react with water producing H2 gas and the agitation needed to help dissolve the clog.
Q:6061-T6 can aluminum sheets be bent?
You ask if the two batch of aluminum material has been aging, the hardness of the aluminum after aging is higher than before the aging. Another aluminum material from the extrusion after the storage time and environment also related. You can measure the hardness of the two batch of aluminum.
Q:Which is better aluminum or stainless steel?
They each have their own advantages and disadvantages. Which one is better depends entirely on what you're USING it for! -Aluminum has a better strength to weight ratio. In other words, while it is not as strong as steel, the fact that it weighs less than half as much makes up for it's lower strength. This is why most airplanes are made of aluminum. -Aluminum is generally more corrosion resistant than all but the most expensive stainless steels. However under certain condition it may corrode rapidly with catastrophic results. -Al is usually less expensive than stainless steel (SS), Though it is 2-4 times more expensive than ordinary (non-stainless) steels. -Al is fairly soft and easier to cut, saw, carve, drill, and machine than steels. (SS is very difficult to work with due to it's excellent abrasion resistance.) -Al is an excellent conductor of heat. This is why it's used for car radiators and air conditioning units, and for pots and pans. -Al is a very good conductor of electricity. Because of it's high conductance, light weight, and corrosion resistance, Al is used for high-voltage overhead power lines. -Stainless steel is stronger than Al, if weight is not a consideration. (In this respect, since Al is weaker, a pipe that could handle the same water pressure would need to be thicker if it was made of Al, So in many cases you can save money on materials by using SS) -SS is easy to weld. (welding Al is very difficult.) -SS can be used at much higher temps. than Al; which becomes very soft above about 400 degrees. -SS is more impact resistant than Al, in other words, it is more ductile. -SS is much more resistant to wear and abrasion, which as I said before makes it difficult to work with.
Q:DC-3 with aluminum/chroming?
Polished aluminum, get a couple heavy duty buffers and some for your friends and then buy stock in Flitz. You can also get it where you want it and paint it with clearcote to keep it a littl better, or what most do; paint it a light gray or silver color. You can strip it, but strip and paint is not cheap. Also, since the controls are fabric covered, they will never match the polished fuselage, that's why paint is better.
Q:Cardboard and aluminum questions.?
Why not heavy duty aluminum foil glued to cardboard? that would look a lot better than patched up pieces of aluminum from tin cans. How would you connect the chunks of aluminum together? and remove the label. Note that soda cans have a coating of plastic on the inside. I don't see any easy way to attach the bits of aluminum from tin cans together, and remove the painted on labels. It would look just like that, pieces of cans glued together. In stead of cardboard you could use foam board which is lighter and more rigid.
Q:Why aluminum reacts slowly with dilute acids?
rethink your question, is non sensical at this point.
