Q:i'm building a race car out of a buick century and the tail lights wires got cut, come to find out the fuel pump ties into the talight wiring harness, i found the wires going to the fuel pump but i'm not sure what is what, there's 4 wires going to it, black, black with a white strip, gray, and pur any ideas what is what please so i can just run a switch to the fuel pump... thanks

No the wire won't melt - besides fuse wire or solder, the lowest common melting point wire is aluminum and it melts at over 1200F Floral wire is usually steel and melts at more like 3000F, but even if it were copper, that melts at about 1900F The real problem with using wire in polymer sculptures is that when the clay shrinks in baking it may pull apart along the wire or that you may make parts of your sculpture thin (like legs or arms) and part thick (like body or head) and thick clay tends to crack - so these parts need to be hollow, which is why people talk about crumpling heavy duty aluminum foil as a core, so the clay is more uniform in thickness all over. Don't forget to have an oven thermometer for accurate temperature checking - don't trust the knob setting on the oven.

Q:I have 12/3 wire running from the breaker box on a 20 amp breaker that powers a bathroom (2 lights and 2 receptacles). I want to splice into this and run 14/2 wire into the living room to run 6 recessed lights. Is this OK to do?

No you should either use a 20 amp breaker and 20 amp recepticles or if you use a 15 amp breaker then use 14/2 or 14/3 wire. Too heavy of wire creates a fire risk. If your new home was wired to code, this seems quite odd.

Steel wires have high strength than the usual reinforcement bars and usually it is used for prestress or post tension beams which can span very big spans without mid supports, especially good for bridges railways bridges and flyovers.

all okorder /... or going into your audio dealer store asking for 3 to 5 ft of the 0 gauge wire for around 15 to 20 dollars at the max. you can also asking your friends for if the person has some extra wire willing to sale it for cheap, I totally would do it, and I have done that before.

Short answer is no. The reason is Cat-X is category then a number, the number meaning twists per inch. The twists help keep out crosstalk and interference. Rarely an issue in most households and even reasonably sized businesses.

Q:So I customized my guitar, and now I need to wire it. i have a pre-wired pickguard but I don't know how to actually hook it up. There's 3 wires. I have 2 humbuckers, 1 singlecoil, 1 tone, and 1 volume. All I know is that one wire gets soldered to the back where the springs are and another wire goes to the input jack. But there's a 3rd wire and I don't know where it goes. I don't even know which wire goes to what. Please don't post a diagram because it doesn't help. I think the wire colors are white, blue, and yellow. Please help!

Matt, okorder /... The fact that the pickguard is pre-wired should make things a little simpler...in fact, if you post a picture, I could help. Without that, I can only make an educated guess. You said there are 3 wires? Well, I suspect that 2 of them are grounds. If you have a multi-tester, you can easily verify which of the two wires go to ground. Just touch one probe to the body of the volume or tone control, and the other to the wire. If you have continuity, it's a ground wire. If you follow them back to the source, both ground wires are probably soldered to the body of a volume or tone control. One ground goes to the bridge/spring assembly. The other should go to the output jack. You'll notice that the jack has two connections. One is the hot wire and the other is ground. You'll need to figure out which of the two wires is the ground, and which connection it goes to on the output jack. Look at the diagram in my link. See the wire that comes from the middle of volume control? That's the hot wire and it should connect to the part of the jack that contacts the tip of the plug at the end of your guitar cable. The other wire connects to the part of the jack that contacts the sleeve of the plug. If you look closely at the jack, you should be able to figure out which connection goes to the long prong. The prong is the one that makes contact with the tip of the plug....and this is where your hot (+) wire goes. Ground (-) to bridge-------------→ Ground (-) to output jack-------→ body/sleeve of jack Signal (+) to output jack--------→ tip connection of jack

Used to love to play pinball in this one bar that would give you a beer if you got so many points. I got good at pinball. (That was back in my drinky too much days.) Funny thing is, I can't play worth a damn now that I'm sober. I went to this great arcade with my nephews a year and a half ago - big ol' thing on the Oregon coast - and am looking forward to doing it again this summer. I love arcades, but we don't have one where I live now.
