Q:What role does the neutral wire play?
Commercial city electricity comes from the power plant in the form of three-phase current. Each phase requires one wire, and the neutral is the common return path for all three. It's more complicated than that, but that will get you started. Near your house there is a transformer that takes one leg of the three-phase power line and reduces it to the voltages used by your household lights and appliances. The neutral wire is grounded at the pole and at your house, and connected to the neutral line in the three-phase wiring, so that it provides a safety ground connection and a return path for electric current. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that the neutral wire be connected correctly and properly maintained. Never let anyone fool with it unless you are sure they know what they are doing. A bad neutral can burn your house down, very quickly. It's much easier to explain city wiring and house wiring with diagrams and pictures. Try an internet search on house wiring. Good luck.
Q:pocket bike wire help?
If there enough wire left on each side of the cut, say 1, then you could bear about 1/4 of the wire on each side and solder the wires back together making sure you are soldering the same wires together and wrap each soldered connection in electrical tape so they are not able to touch each other. Then a final wrap of tape around them both. If you are not up to soldering you could go to an auto parts shop and get a crimp connector to do the job, again bearing of wire is needed to get a contact through the cut area. If the cut is closer to the switch then there is no option but to replace the switch.....

Q:wiring a light help!!!?
cut the red wire i wonder if its like a spy movie u don't cut the light Colors or the dark ones either so cut the red 1!!!! it will be funny i u get eletricuted
Q:Wave speed in two steel wires.?
Wave velocity v = √(T/μ) Same tension in both wires: T1 = T2 μ is the linear mass density v1 = 53.2 m/s v2 = ? = v1/v2 = √(T1/μ1) / √(T2/μ2) = √(T1μ2 / T2μ1) = √(T1/T2 * μ2/μ1) = √(μ2/μ1) Linear mass density is mass/length, mass is density*volume: m/L = ρV/L = ρAL/L = ρA = ρπr^2 Both wires are steel so their density is the same. == v1/v2 = √(μ2/μ1) = √(ρπr2^2 / ρπr1^2) = √(r2^2 / r1^2) = r2/r1 == v2 = v1r1/r2 = (53.2*3.00×10^-4) / 4.45×10^-4 = 35.9 m/s ---- Speed of waves along the second wire is 35.9 m/s
Q:Light fixture wiring problem?
the red and brown are probably positive (red) and the brown (neg) The green is probably a ground wire. You can go to the hardware store. Home Depot or Sears or Ace etc and get a small tester and then touch it to the wires. It will come with instructions and you can also ask the sales person in the electrical dept.
Q:high voltage stranded wire?
There are many uses for stranded wire, from 5V to 500kV, and the reasons are very different. I am assuming since you say 500kV you mean high voltage transmission conductors? If that is the case the reason mainly is because of the physical strength of the conductor and manufacturing processes. For example a solid aluminum conductor with such large diameter is not realistic. When conductor spans large distances the weight of aluminum itself would tear it apart. Therefore a normal conductor would be something like 336 ACSR. ACSR meaning aluminum conductor steel reinforced. Steel is the inner wire for strength, and the outer wire is many aluminum wires wrapped together for carrying the electricity... Hopefully this was of some help.
Q:I need help with wiring?
You need to get a test light and find a wire under the dash or coming from the ignition that has power when the key is turned on. If you want the plug to have power when the key is off then you will need to find a wire that has power when the key is off. Once you find the wire make sure its thicker wire and splice into it.
Q:Do you connect all wires when splicing a telephone wire?
each phone line uses a pair of wires (2 wires) these wires would normally be green/red or blue/white and solid blue for line 1 and if needed yellow/black or orange/white and solid orange for line 2... you did the first step in troubleshooting to know that the trouble resides inside your home... so when you call into your line does the phone ring busy (or go straight to voice mail) or does it just keep ringing.... if it rings busy (or straight to VM) then there is a short on the line... this is possibly a defective phone, a phone that is off the hook, or a bad jack or wire... if the phone just keeps ringing, then there is a broken wire somewhere...... since the old NID is no longer accessible, you may need to run a section of wire from the new NID to one of the existing jacks in your home to back feed the jacks... if you do this i recommend disconnecting the wire that is going from the new NID to the old NID, as if you reverse the polarity you may end up shorting out your line with the new wire...
Q:1985 nissan 720 radio wiring?
there is no reason to cut any wiring to install any aftermarket head unit.go to wall mart to the car audio area and give them the yr make and model of your ride and they will sell you the right plug in for your type car.this wires to your new head units wiring harness and plugs into the plugs you took your factory radio out of.they call it plug and play and it comes with a wiring diagram for your type car so follow it. its color coded. if you did cut off the plugs your best bet is to put them back.this part is about 9 dollars.
