Q:how do i check the main bearings? on my chevy?

in most cases you can do the repair in your truck or car by removing the oil pan. but if you are gonna check them you might as well replace them . check for shaving in your oil pan . might be an indication of failing bearings

They are pretty good not awsome but ok, a good type of bearings is Reds, they are decently priced and they are wonderful

Q:i have a 20 kent bmx bike. The bearings in the frame got messed up some how and now the pedal crank moves back and forth. Can I get these the bearings or do I have to get a new frame?

You are looking for bottom bracket bearings to fit a 1 piece crank... not pedal bearings. These are standard size and readily available HOWEVER since I assume they failed while you were riding the bearing cups should be replaced as well. This takes less than 15 minutes by an experienced mechanic. In summary, you need 2 bottom bracket bearings and 2 bearing cups for a 1 piece crank (and someone to install them correctly).

Q:So i just bought some sector 9 ABEC 7 bearings. Is it ok if i buy the speed cream lubricant, take the bearings appart, and apply the lub without cleaning them? They are Like less then a week old (the bearings).

First off, they are a downhill bearing, if your street or vert skating i recumbent independent 7's. Second, speed cream is only really necessary when your bearings start to wear down and start to slow and make that horrible noise. if you put it in straight away it won't do much but collect dirt. so just wait a while.

Q:I have a Merida sub-20 bike. can i use sealed units? if so, what size should i use?I want to change to sealed bearings to make it easier to replace/fix. many thanks

You will have to buy a new headset with sealed bearings if you want to do this. However, if your current headset is in good shape, simply servicing it will keep it in good shape for years.

As stated above, check them while replacing the seals. A lot of the times, you can just repack them as long as they're in good condition.

Q:This may seem like a stupid question as I am just learning to skateboard.I bought a brand new complete board with abec 5 bearings and they seem quite stiff. Am I suppose to oil them before I ride or do they eventually loosen up as I ride? Also I took the riser pads off because I heard it makes it easier to learn to ollie, will this help me? I have 51mm wheels so I dont think they will rub against the board.Thanks for your help.

Risky but it's your cam shaft. Bearings and lifters are usually replaced with the camshaft. But then again years ago people would lay a strip of leather between bearings to take up any play. I wouldn't try that either today.

Q:is the lucky or red bone bearings the best for making your skateboard go faster

Reds are your best bet. Although i would recomend getting bones swiss bearing. They may be more expensive, but they are well worth it. With bones, abec doesn't matter. Abec was designed for bearings for the industrial use. Although abec 7s arw good, bones dont have abec because they dont need it. They are further designed to resist the hazards that skateboarding may have rather than most bearings.
