- Q:I have gotten oil in my coolant, and coolant in my oil..It might be the head gasket, no doubt, but many people said (online forums) that my bike, has issues with the seal that is separating oil pump from water pump. They go bad, and when they do, the oil mixes with coolant and vise versa. Now, I am seeking from professional help, on how to take out both of the pumps, without messing up timing, and also without messing up anything else. I have removed the entire exhaust system, dropped the oil pan, and i can see the oil/water pump pretty good. What i do not know is how to remove it properly. Any help is help, I have searched and searched on google and forums on how to perform this task, but couldnt find any specific help on how to remove the pump. Thank you!!!!!

- Q:Im looking at putting a cabin on my property. I have a 200 gallon underground fresh water tank and i'm needing a pump to get the water into the cabin. i want to run a toilet, sink and possibly a shower. does anyone know the style of pump i would need that would only operate when i need it to that way it does not burn up.
- I had a jet pump to run my whole house on my farm. It was placed in the basement, but it could be in a back room, too and they are pretty quiet these days. Does it freeze inside the cabin? I assume not. having it inside means if you have trouble even in freezing weather you can work on it in comfort. The end of the pie into your water tank will need a foot valve to keep the pipe filled so you don't have to prime the pump ( not a handy thing to have to do all the time). Other than that, the system is operated with electricity and a pressure switch which is settable. It will not run all the time this way. Not sure anymore but, for example the switch might be set to come on at 50PSI and shut off at 125PSI. You can tell by the switch or get a recommendation from the store where you buy it. (see pictures in link) Menard's sells these and department workers are trained to answer all your questions about installation, parts, and what you need,etc.

- Well yes it wiould , powerful pumps need more electric power so check that the generator can supply the power needed by the pump

- The water pump is simply an impeller -- it's a tube of rubber which spins as the power shaft spins, and the tube has fins which push water through the engine to cool it. Take the old one to a boat store, and you will find one close enough. They aren't finicky, they just want water pushed through them.

- You might need a new foot valve. That keeps the water from draining back into the well. Depending on what type of pump you have, could be at the bottom of the well. To bleed the well, you need to remove the plug on the motor...it looks like a nut...about 3/4. You remove that and fill with water...when its full, turn the pump on and keep filling it till it gushes out...put the plug in (with new teflon tape) and it should work. Be careful not to touch the electrical, could get shocked. Its easy if the foot valve is good.
- Q:changed the thermostat. it overheats but cools down a heat bar or two idling at stoplights. i filled up the coolant reservoir when i changed the thermostat, drove it about 2 miles(engine was already up to temp when i started) and it overheated. drove it two miles back going about 35-40 and it never went above normal but was still overheating. checked the reservoir and it was empty. stuffed a hose in it and plugged it up with a towel to force water in to see if it was leaking anywhere, no leaks. while running with the rpms up the top hose is easy to squeeze. makes me think water pump. but if i go over 45 it over heats makes me think clutch fan.
- well if it is the water pump you will have a small hole ( tale tale hole ) and it will be leaking water to let you know its out. and clutch fan there will be alot of play i have seen people stop them with there hand but i dont advise it

- it is belt driven pulley near the center of engine, unless mitsu made that one timing belt driven in which case you can't see it with-out dissassembling front part of engine.

- It's possible. It depends on how many miles you've put on the car since then. The Water pumps on the older cars are not designed to go for more than 30-40K miles. Also if the car has been sitting the seals might have dried up a bit allowing for the steaming effect.

- When you can't see it on the engine. It is usually at the back of the timing quilt. Many engines are now hooked up that way. The timing belt also runs your water pump. And if you happen to must substitute the water pump. You are going to also replace the timing belt. Which is an efficient thought any method .Considering a 2001 may have many miles ,and nearly able for the belt to break. Leaving you stranded.
