- Q:I'm researchign for this demonstration speech on origami and uncovered a legen that says in the Japenese custom if you fold 1000paper cranes you are granted a wish. Just wondering, has anyoen ever tried this? and the outcome?I'm goign to do it this weekend!
- my daughter's art club did this for a hospital not to long ago...they made 1300 paper cranes and hung them from the ceiling in one of the hospital wings. I don't know about being granted one wish, but it made the patients happy and smile no matter how sick they were. I've heard the paper crane was some how connected with leukemia, so she made one for a friend of mine's son (he is only 7 and has battled this disease for 2 years) and it made him happy to know that someone who doesn't know him would make something like that for him.

- I think it will be hard to tell, the easiest form to calculate is the time to make one crane times 1000. However, as long you fold you will get a little bit exhausted therefore you should add 1/5 of the total times to make of the 1000 cranes, good luck!

- The angle of the two member of the wall shall not be less than 60 degrees and shall not exceed 90 degrees;

- To account for the inefficiencies, and startup currents, you should have a 200 kW (200 kVA) inverter with peak power of 800 kW. The batteries would have to store and deliver about 150 kW. But lead acid batteries would need to be of a higher capacity to guarantee that power level for 1/2 hour, which calculates to 75 kW-hour. I'd say 100 kW-hour capacity. A large 12 volt battery can store about 100 amp-hours which translates to 1 kW-hour, so you would need 100 of this size batteries connected in series/parallel. I made a lot of guesses, you should get better numbers for the motors, the inverters and batteries for a more accurate calculation. An inverter of the size needed will not be a 12 volt unit, but probably 48 or 96 volts DC. so you need to configure your batteries in series parallel to get that voltage. Altogether, the 100 large batteries make this not a practical solution. There are lots of large cranes in the world, what do they use for backup? And why do you need backup. With no power, the clutches would keep the crane and loads fixed in position, my guess.
