If you have an acidic stain and use vinegar you increase the pH. We use vinegar to help correct pH problems when a carpet discolors from previous cleaners. We also use litimus paper to check for ph.

Q:cat pissed on my NEW rug as you can tell i'm not happy. I hate to throw it away. That's 400.00 i hate to throw away. I used vinger and soap. pLus i shampooed it. WHat can i do: I just Googled Ashley area rug and noticed that they are made from nylon, one of the points being easy to clean. Can you ask the manufacturer or place you bought it? I'd try just straight white vinegar sponged on and then blotted. I'd then elevate or hang the rug so both sides can air until completely dry. Get a squirt bottle and use it keep the cat off the rug. You do say you clean the litterBOX well. You certainly should try getting one to two more boxes since you have two cats. Take up the rugs and try a new box or two and see what happens.

Q:Is it possible to make a shag rug for a bedroom out of that faux fur you see in fabric stores? If so, whats the best way to go about it? Q:we are trying to shampoo our hall carpet, but someone had spilled quite a bit of laundry soap awhile ago and it doesn't seem to go away. Does anyone know a better way to get rid of this big blotch of soap on the carpet?: Try diluting some vinegar in water and shampooing with that. Vinegar is used to cut oven cleaner cleaning solution making clean up easier, maybe it will work on the soap. My concern is how much water are you putting on the carpet? Saturating it could be damaging the under layer, promoting mold. You might consider cutting out that section, taking it to the sink or tub and running water through it until completely soap free, plot as much as possible out, let air dry and then use double sided carpet tape to reinstall it in the hall. They use carpet tape when installing carpeting when it must be seamed, so it's not a freakish idea.
