- Q:I'm trying to use a stereo wire instead of a mono wire for an output from a circuit I've built. The problem is, the gold wire has been cut too short, and I'd rather not strip it back any further since I don't have a lot of cord to work with. Since there are three wires (red, white, gold - ground) can I use either the red or the white as output, and the remaining color for ground, or do I have to use the gold cable for the ground and let the remaining wire dangle (taped)?Thanks
- The gold wire is actually copper. It is braided and surrounds the red and white wires. It not only forms the common return for both the other wires, it is also a screen which eliminates unwanted pick up. The right channel signal appears between the red wire and the sceeen and the left channel signal appears between the white wire and the screen - which is usually grounded. If you use the red and white wires on their own you will probably get pick up on them. The screen really is necessary. If you have access to the screen at only one end (it sounds as if you might) then connecting the screen to whichever wire you choose to be grounded might be sufficient.

- hook it up to ur little blue wire that says power antenna if not on there find somewhere on ur fuse panel that turns off and on when u turn on the key or wire it to toggle switch and then to the hot wire on the amp and u can turn the amp on and off anytime u like

- ok hopefully you have a test light. take your test light and put in into a wire under your dash and see if the light comes on. if it does not turn your truck till it's in the run possition and see if the light come on. if it does tap into that wire for the amp turn on. remember you want no power when the truck is off and power when it's on or your battery will go dead when the truck sits! the red is battery the yellow is a key on power wire(you can use that one for the amp turn on if you wanted) and the black is ground.

- No, but there are adapters you can get to make the engine wiring harness from an acura engine fit a Honda wiring harness. It plugs in at the fire wall. They are a specialty kit and are expensive though (Painless wiring harness). That is if you are trying to put an Acure engine in a Honda. If you are just trying to get a new wiring harness for the Honda go to a junk yard and get one off of a similar Honda.

- Q:I'm replacing the door speakers in a 2001 Coupe Camaro with the factory sound system. I needed to know which wire was positive and which was negative so I bought a circuit tester. However, I keep getting the reading that both wires are positive. What could be causing this? I know the circuit tester works because I tested it on the battery terminals and it worked fine.
- If you power it up, and go from one wire to ground at a time it will work, if you use the tester between the two speakers wires it will be positive both ways you hook it.
