- Q:Hi I purchased a Sony Bluray optical drive from Ebuyer (bad move),The drive showed up in a tackie box with no cables included, manuals etc. I plugged in a SATA cable in to the back but its not powering up, there is a slot for another connection but with no cables enclosed I am I right in saying the SATA cable should power the drive up as well?
- A SATA cable alone will not power your drive. There should be a slot with 4 big pins on the blu-ray drive you purchased. Open the case of your computer and find the power supply. There should be cables on it that would fit onto the 4 pins. That would be the power to your drive.

- you need to consider 2 things. 1. check the pin-out. the cable should match the connector on your mother board. 2. make sure you have atleast 600~750Watts power on the new power supply.

- Q:I used my laptop as a home computer, most of the time I keep my laptop turned on with the power cable plugged in. Is it good to do that? or is it better to plug the power off whenever the laptop's battery is full? Which one is good for my laptop' maintenance? - Ok, straight to the point, keep it plugged. Besides losing the power over the time you have it unplugged, most laptops are equipped with a power saving feature that reduces it's power consumption. This means that the PC will have to use less for processing which in turn reduces your PC's speed. To check this out, try booting your Laptop with plug on. When you see the desktop, look for the my computer icon on the desktop or on the start menu. Right-click on it and select properties. Look for some number preceding Ghz and remember it. now, unplug the power cord from the laptop and restart the PC. do the same thing when you see the desktop after the restart. notice that the number you had the last time decreased. (if it did not decrease, then it means your laptop still operates at the same speed when unplugged and will be fine when unplugged) besides the speed reduction when unplugged, the screen will be dimmer when unplugged. also, when the batteries are full, they are not charging when the plug is still on the laptop. the laptop will use AC power when it knows that the batteries are full and it's plugged in.

- With a power cord, cable, plug thingy? I've never seen such a setup, and I thought I knew a bit about computers. I know I've seen old (mid 2000s) articles about something like that, but it never got market traction as far as I'm aware. I'd say that you would have to replace your power supply - but I guess a separate power supply should be another solution as well - though it might actually be cheaper to replace the power supply rather than having a separate power supply for your GPU. Also, your motherboard doesn't necessarily support the newest GPUs at any rate, so... yeah.

- Q:Hey y'all , so I got this LG X120 Netbook thing and although it works fine when power supply cable is connected, it won't play just by getting supply from its own battery..also i tried starting it up with the power cable on, and after a few moments I unplugged it, and the screen went black-I mean the netbook was turned off by itself..any help with that? thanks
- It sounds like the problem is one of three things. Either the power cable is the wrong voltage/amperage (these should be labeled on both the charger and the bottom of the laptop and/or battery) If the charger specs don't match the battery specs, it can cause this to happen. Maybe there was a mess-up that caused your to receive the wrong charger. The second possibility is that the battery is bad. A third possibility may be the connection from the battery to the laptop. It may not be making a good connection or could have some internal circuit problems. In any case, if the laptop is still under warranty... I would try returning it. Even if the problem can be fixed from the above suggestions, a problem like this early on tends to be bad news of what lies ahead.

But nobody seems to carry the power supply. Most places I've found online carry generic or no-name brand equipment which I want to stay away from for something this valuable and will only purchase genuine Microsoft equipment. Where can I look or buy it? Will I have to order right from Microsoft themselves?
