Q:Decoration, listen to friends introduced with a safe wood floor, do not know what to pay special attention to decoration, usually how to maintain? More
Do not let hard things scratch on the floor, pay attention to the table bench, do not let the water soak in the floor for a long time, conditional every six months, playing a wax
Q:Want to know the floor area and the base line conversion, thank you
If you want accurate data, to personally look at the length of the foot line, each decoration is not the same, there are many places, such as TV wall or wardrobe where is not a baseboard. If you can not take the time can also be the number of floor area can also be, such as 70 square meters floor, with 70 meters on the foot line.
Q:When im on a transit bus the floors are always shiny and sparkly why is this?
The floor has a tough plastic coating that will not hold dirt and gives good traction so nobody slips and falls. It actually has little teeth that grip the soles of shoes. You are seeing reflections off those teeth.
Q:We just bought our first home. While we were moving in furniture into the home the other day, we noticed some parts of the floor are not level. Example: When putting the bookcase against the wall, the bookcase did not go flesh and we noticed right in front of the fire place the floor sloped slightly downward. There were a few other spots where you could see the floor was uneven. The floors themselves seem fine though, they don’t buckle or creak there are just some spots where it looks as if someone built them uneven. The house is an 83 years old log cabin that has recently been restored the previous owner doesn't know much about the house (he was an investor). It has a walk in basement which was added sometime after the original home was built- the uneven flooring is just upstairs, downstairs (the basement) seems fine. I don’t think the home inspector noticed the floors because he didn’t write it in the report. Are uneven floors something to really worry about?
Log cabins are typically made to move around. I would be surprised if the floors were level. You can shim the bottoms of furniture. If you are handy, you can install adjustable levelers on the bottoms. That way they can be adjusted periodically. I should say, there is the possibility a floor joist could have a crack but then the floor would bounce a lot and you mentioned that there were no creaks.
Q:Which is cheaper, having my badly damaged oak floors patched and refinished by a professional or installing a pergo type floor over the existing flooring myself? I know the level of the floor will be raised up a bit. That's ok.
I don't know what you mean by badly damaged but I would think a repair and refinish job would be superior to a pergo floor. Have you talked with a professional floor finisher about the condition of your floor and the cost to repair and revarnish? I would.
Q:Moving to the French Quarter and would like to make a name plaque. How do you write "second floor" and "2nd floor" in French? Thanks!
I think you could answer this question yourself with a bit of guidance: 1. Will you ever work in politics? 2. Do you live on the west coast? 3. Do you think you will ever be interested in international trade? 4. Will you ever work in Quebec? 5. If you had to pick a any country in the world besides Canada where would that be? I live in Canada and I am deciding between Mandarin, Spanish, Arabic or Hindi - My decision is based on the countries I would do business with in the next 5-6 years. German is another candidate. Nothing wrong with French but how useful would it be to you based on your future goals vs any another language.
Q:What restaurants have floor seating where you sit on the ground and eat? I really want to go to one.
I know of two such restaurants. I've been to each of them and recommend them based on the traditional criteria of food/decor/service/value. Coincidentally, both of them are Asian and vegetarian. Both are in Manhattan. Vatan, 409 Third Avenue (at 29th Street). Indian. All you can eat. Seating is not exactly on the floor -- it's on a raised platform, about 20 inches off the ground. There's no place to dangle your legs, so you have to keep them on the platform with the rest of you -- in that respect, it's just like sitting on the floor. HanGawi, 12 East 32nd Street (between Fifth & Madison Avenues). Korean. Seating is on the floor, but there's a well that you can dangle your legs into. You'll need to check your shoes at the entrance, so wear nice socks. Finally, disregard the answer about a Cambodian restaurant at McMillan and Taft -- there are no such streets anywhere in New York City.
Q:I have cold concrete floors that we had to remove the carpet & padding from because of water damage. Thinking of replacing with Cork Flooring. Can any one give me feedback as to how you clean it, durability to wear and tear of two large dogs (toe nails) and insulation specs? Thanks, Shany
Click on Visit Manufacturers Website and you will get some good tips, including the following. To help your cork floor keep its “just installed” look, try these preventive maintenance suggestions: Place breathable mats in front of sinks and in doorways Note: do not use mats with rubber or other non-porous backings since these could trap moisture and affect the finish Put felt pads under furniture legs to prevent scuffs When moving furniture; lift it, don’t drag it Place a drip pan under potted plants to catch water seepage Prevent fading from excessive sunlight with window treatments, like curtains, drapes, blinds, or with window tint When it comes to cleaning, cork flooring requires no special equipment or harsh chemicals. The basic steps are as follows: Wipe up spills immediately Note: cork is a wood product and therefore will absorb moisture To reduce scratches, sweep or vacuum regularly to remove abrasive debris To clean a heavier soiled area, use only a cleaner formulated for pre-finished hardwood floors I hope this helps. Rick
Q:if im laying it on a concrete floor do i just need to put the underlay down first, then the laminate?
You definitely want to put down the underlay first. It gives it a cushion and the flooring will lay better.
Q:I am in the process of redecorating my room and am interested in placing a large decal on my wooden floors. The only issue is that I cannot find anywhere where they sell floor decals/stickers online or in store so I was wondering if I would be able to use a wall decal on the wooden floor and if it would be able to last over the years and not ruin the floors. thank you in advance!!
Hi okorder ). I hope this helps! Brittany
