Q:Water pump cost??????????
A lot!!
Q:water pump failure? or what?
when your water pump goes out, either it will leak from the weep holes which are the holes drilled in the pump by the manufacturer or around the pulley. If that is happening then its your pump. The other thing to check would be your thermostat, check this by turning your truck on and leaving the lid of the radiator. check the temperature of the water in the radiator with your finger if it warms up in ten minutes then its not your thermostat, if the water level goes down ( like lack of water) then its the pump.
Q:Water pump housing is NOT available at any parts store.?
You should probably try a salvage yard. They might have it, of course it probably wont be new....
Q:function of regulator in water pump?
This might be explained with an example. There is a water tank being used by a community (or a dwelling) and it is supplied by a pump from a well. There is a switch in the tank that is wired to the pump motor. The switch is activated by a lever attached to a float in the tank. When the float is in the down position the pump runs, When the float is pushed up by the water the punp is turned off. The pump first operates and fills the tank and then shuts off when the tank is full. When the usage of water drops the water in the tank to a certain level, the pump turns on until it is full again. The float, the switch and the motor are the pump regulating devices. This type of regulation is called two-position, like a light switch. Other more involved types of regulation may adjust a valve in the pipeline from the pump . This changes the rate of flow while the pump continues to run. The first type of regulation can be called digital because the flow is yes or no. The second can be called analog because while it is on, the flow varies in amount. If I have not adequately answered your question, maybe someone else will.
Q:Should my mechanic have changed thermostat with water pump?
My philosophy on thermostats is if I don't have a reason to suspect trouble with it I don't change it. Thermostats don't have any particular life expectancy - the one in my daughter's Accord is 18 years old and works better than new aftermarket thermostats I have tried. I haven't replaced a thermostat in about 15 years. They are often blamed but (until recently, with the introduction of fail open thermostats) rarely at fault. EDIT - I also agree with BR549, although for a different reason. Professionals have to work somewhat differently than DIYers because of where the costs fall. I would rebuild a starter and it would be a lot better than a store-bought rebuilt, but a pro would be taking on unnecessary risks if he didn't replace the starter. His perspective splits the question in two: should the thermostat be replaced during coolant service, and should a professional mechanic replace the thermostat during coolant service? I answer no to the first and yes to the second. The replacement may actually be a step down from the one we know works, but it is also the safer way for a pro to go.
Q:took car to mechanic put in timing belt engine coolant and water pump now green fluid leaking what is it?
Clearly they did not drive it after they worked on it. They messed something up and need to fix it. call them and let them know and don't drive it out of coolant or you will fry your engine.
Q:can a 2000 lincoln water pump fit a 2001 lincoln?
We need to know what model of Lincoln you're working on. The water pump from an LS 3.9L isn't going to fit the 4.6L or 5.4L of a Aviator or Navigator. You must be more specific. The part numbers show it's the same water pump for a V8 2000-2001. I bet if looked further, it's probably the same pump up to the end of production on 2006. Don't forget to bleed the air from the cooling system when you complete the repair job!! You'll definitely have ovrheating issues if it isn't right. MAke sure it's the V8 (3.9L) pump and not the V6 (3.0L) pump.
Q:could my water pump be going out?
your right on the problem so to really figure it out take the hose off or lose enough to make a mess and see it flowing. Take it off at the water pump thats where it comes out at. the water pump pumps water into the radiator or up, not the other way around.
Q:how does a water pump work?
Water pump works by suction and lifting up the water to a desired level. The mechanism of pump to increase the hydraulic height/level of fluid. Example : The pump will pump and lift water from a 25 feet deep well and carry it up to fill a water tank placed on a 30 feet high structure.
Q:Water pump Problem... Do you think??
I would not drive the car until it is fixed. You can do alot of damage to the cooling system and engine if you drive it while it's overheating. The thermostat on these vehicles are pretty reliable. I suspect the water pump's plastic impellar has broken apart and isn't circulating the coolant through the system like it should be. Are you the original owner? Are you under 100K miles? If, so, the water pump falls under the 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. If it is the water pump, the dealership or authorized VW repair center should fix it for FREE. Good luck.
