Q:We bought a used 2004 Chevy Venture that is a cargo style van... it only had a radio in it. So we just bought a Sony car stereo with a cd player to install in it. However, we are having trouble locating the correct wiring harness for the 2004 Venture. We've bought two already for GM vehicles that should technically work for the year of our van, but they do not work. One salesman told us we needed a very expensive wiring harness because it controls the airbags and other electrical gadgets (but they didn't sell it at his store... he said to look online). I've looked online and can't find anything. Would we be better hardwiring it OR does anyone have any experience with a situation like this? Thanks!

Q:Does anyone know what the wire harness is called that runs from the chassis to the door called on a 1995 jeep gc. This wire harness includes the speaker wires, power window wires, and power lock wires. I have checked everywhere and cannot see what this harness is called.
Its called a wire harness. I beleive it is the main dash wire harness, but you wont get anywhere with that if you are trying to get one from a parts house or dealer, You just have to hit and miss at the salvage yard or digging around yourself and get lucky. But if you can trace the wires to a block connector or firewall connector you will be in luck and just tell them the location of the block where the harness is connected and you should be there, just remember all your options in you truck will have to match the options in the donor truck or the harness wont work for you
Q:I just bought an exhaust tip with leds which needs to be wired up to the brake lights on my mazda 626. Can somebody tell me which colour wire it is (positive) on the wiring to the brake light? There are a few wires and I dont know which one it is! Thanx
How do you wire this up? You dont !! Beautifying your car is good to do but I have seen these LED tips and they look terrible. If you want your car to look like a cheap honda civic thats been dressed up, then go ahead and do this. if you still want to do this, use a multimeter across the two cables. run one lead to each wire. If you get a positive voltage when someone else presses the brake then the positive lead you have connected will be the side that is positive. If your voltage is negative, then the wire NOT connected to the positive lead is the positive
Q:How much wire is required?
Length of wire is L = R*A/p SI units must be used, so convert radius of 1/64in to meters: r = 0.0254 / 64 m (using 25.4mm = 1 inch) r = 3.969*10^-4 m (0.3969mm) So cross-sectional area is A = pi*(3.969*10^-4)^2 m^2 A = 4.95*10^-7 m^2 The average resistivity of nichrome is p = 1.1*10^-6 ohm-meter So the required length of wire is L = 2.2 ohm * 4.95*10^-7 m^2 / 1.1*10^-6 ohm-meter L = 0.990 m
Q:what size of wire should I use for my 1.5hp aircon, 220volt
It depends on the amperage draw, it should say on the rating plate. 14/3 for 15 amp, 12/3 for 20 amp, 10/3 for 30 amp, 8/3 for 40 amp and 6/3 for 50 amp and so on.
Q:the ground wire came loose and touched the power wire for a second and created a big spark . the fuses aren't blown what else can i check or fix because the amp won't turn on now.
i'd replace the fuse anyway. if that doesnt do it, you killed the amp. sorry man. good luck
Q:my speaker makes a fuzzy or static noise while the scene has high or low sound. I cut my wire in half because I bought a subwoofer and we didn't get the wires with it. So I cut it. After all I didn't need the wire for the subwoofer. Could my speakers make such noises because of cutting a wire?
I have no idea what you did. Which speaker(s) makes a static noise? You cut your wire in half. Which wire? Is your subwoofer wired to the speaker outputs or the SUB OUT on the receiver? Did you splice this wire or simply trim it, strip the ends and plug it into the receiver speaker outputs and the terminals on a speaker? What are you powering these speakers and subwoofer with? A receiver or an all in one HTIB unit? The best way to get good answers with any question is to provide as many details as possible - model numbers and the conditions under which the problem occurs. Details please.
Q:so im doing a custom buggy and i need so different colored wire im looking for a place to get lots of different colored wire for cheap
Quick wire / Saint wire cable company. painless wiring company There are other companies that sell universal harnesses that already have a fuse box with the basic circuits already done, and some blanks to run to whatever accessory you need. It's the easiest thing to do.
Q:The power supply is at the fixture in this case. I have 2 black wires (1 is the hot, I connected the hot to the other black to continue to the switch. The other wires are 2 white wires, 1 red wire and 2 grounds. At the switch there are multiple wires, including 3 black wires, 1 red, 3 white and 3 ground. One of the black wires I know goes on to other fixtures in another room. My issue now is I cannot get my main fixture I was trying to change the switch on to work and don't know which wire to connect to the switch. Right now I have removed the switch completely so the other rooms lights will work. Here is how I have it set up now. At the fixture black to black, white to white, red capped 2 grounds capped together. At the switch area: Black (hot from the fixture) to 2 blacks, all 3 whites connected, red is capped, and grounds are together. Which wires do I connect to the switch to control the fixture and still allow the other rooms lights to work. HELP!
If you are having trouble wiring a light switch you shouldn't be doing it get an electrician otherwise you could cause a fire.
Q:Need ro know where to put the wires correctly
there are 2 110 volt wires black 1 neutral white and 1 ground green, how to hook them up if you don't know call an electrician before you burn the house down or kill someone.
