Q:I found a box of power cables that I could use to hook up my PC and I know some of them were for old CRT monitors. Is it safe to use any of them? I'm not sure which one actually came with the monitor.
From what I can tell, all of the monitor power cables are exactly the same. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't work or why it would be unsafe. As long as it fits easily into the LCD and plugs into your power supply then it should be just fine. (P.S. I've used old power cables on newer models before when I lost a cable once)
Q:My amp was working this morning. On my way home, the power cable came out somehow. I put it back in and it wasn't powering on. The amp fuses were blown, I replaced them. Then I went to hook the battery terminal back and the fuse in my power cable blew instantly. I replaced it and tried again and it blew again. Also the fuses in the amp are fine now. I did the same process when I installed my amp the first time and it was fine so I don't know why it's doing this now. The amp is a Boston Acoustics 800w RMS amp and an 80a fuse. Any ideas?
you got a short to ground, make sure ANY part of the Positive (hot) wire is not touching the chassis
Q:I'm new to PCs and I recently bought a Dell Optiplex 745 desktop PC but it came without cables. I thought I had the correct power cord but it turns out I gave it away to friends. I have the power cable that you plug into the wall which has the standard PC kettle plug (the correct one for PCs not an actual kettle plug) that you'd usually plug into an adapter then into your PC but I'm not sure if you can just plug it in without the correct adapter. I have Googled but cant make head nor tail of it all. And by adapter I mean the cable with the little box that you usually plug into a device such as a PC, laptop or Xbox 360 before you connect the cable to the mains.Thanks.
It all comes down to the amount of output that the pc is set to take. I would think that you would be fine without the adapter, assuming it already works. If you do decide to do this make sure you set up a surge protector, dont just plug it into the wall. A power surge could fry the internals and brick the pc.
Q:The computer is a Hp compaq. So I took the connector out of the computer but left it in the power socket. When I tried to reinsert the connector I hit the metal back panel of the computer and it made contact so I was wondering what is the part(s) that is likely to be broken?I want to know it so I can replace the damaged parts. Thanks in advance of your help.
The power cable should have enough rubber/plasitc to stop contact with power supply directly unless you seen a spark I would try the a different cable. Is the power supply turned on? If it did spark and is turned on try swapping the power supply. Actually I missread, it touched the case itself so now you have to start swapping all parts starting with the power supply, then motherboard if that doesnt work. I hope you have some spare parks around. you could also take out the power supply and you will see a long 24-pin connector you can short the 1 green wire with a black one to see if the power supply turns on. The connector is a cable comming from the PSU not on the motherboard. And lastly each time you try to start the computer after swapping somthing only have the essentials to have it start. No CD drive extra HDD etc.
Q:It's a mains electrical cable, like a kettle or computer, 3 pin but with a little groove under the 2 pins. Please help.
If you are in the UK, it is 13amp insulated, power cable with live, neutral and earth wires.
Q:I am getting a new gaming computer for Christmas with a 700 watt, 12.5 AMP (I think) power supply. I have two power cords for computers on my shelf, but my dad is worried that a standard power cable won't properly power my computer. Do I need to get a more powerful cable? If so, please send a link to where I can buy one, I have been searching but only found standard ones. Thank you.
no, you'll be fine. definitely use a good surge protector though
Q:why my pc is shutting down and restarting only when removing the power cable and connecting it again?
u question is confusing, need more details, post again
Q:a few of the amp power cables in the recording studio got mixed around, and I'm not sure which is mine. My amp is a Fender Mustang III, (100-120V, 50/60 Hz, 310W) and I'm wondering if there is a specific power cable that I CANNOT use for the amp, like one that fits into the plug in the back but has too much voltage, and so on.
A power cable is a power cable. The end.
Q:I had a power outage and I fixed it and now my cable wont work. The cable box is on it's just that there is no picture and not even the control can make it work. Can anyone figure out a way to help me with this?
got mine fixed just took the power cable out and put it back in then it started up gl everyone.....
Q:The voltage level of the cable is how much the number of high and low voltage cables
HDMI interface common in some new TV, which is called "digital high-definition multimedia interface", mainly for the transmission of high-quality, lossless digital audio and video signals to high-definition television, the maximum bandwidth of 5Gbps In addition, There is also an interface you need attention, this interface is called "DisplayPort", it can provide the same function with the HDMI interface, and can provide bandwidth up to 108Gb / s, much higher than the HDMI interface More importantly, DisplayPort is free Standard (HDMI charges), almost all of the personal computer manufacturers and graphics card manufacturers have expressed support for this interface
