Q:Can old speaker wire cause a little static sound??
The only way I could see old wire causing what you describe is if there is a lot of oxidation on the part where it is making contact. It is possible, but not likely and just simply jiggling things should cause the oxidation to come off, if that is what it is.
Q:As in quot;I saw this pop up over the wireor quot;it came across the wire from Livingstonquot;.
Wire means line, line of communication between two persons. In this case, a wire is telegram. A telegram is the ancestor of the mail.
Q:Why are some wires (especially thin ones, like ones connecting a battery pack in a toy) made up of many wires instead of just being one solid piece of metal?
1) it is more flexible than single wire of same resistance, that is you can bend it to more angle than it's counterpart single wire that would have same resistance. 2) AC current don't flow over whole cross section area of a wire but it flows more near/on outer surface of wire. So resistance is not a function(inversely proportional) of cross section area for AC current but surface area wich is more for for many wires cable than single wire cable for given weight of wire material and thus it will have lesser resistance. 3) it is more reliable, that is if one of many wire get beaked the wire will still work unlike single wire cable.
Q:there is a loose wire in my labtop charger wire. can i fix it or prevent it from happening.
Loose wires just happen - from the way a cable is bent, moved, stored, wrapped, etc... I think (providing it doesn't happen right after you get the product) that it's pretty much normal wear and tear over time. You could try to repair it, but it would involve removing the cable sheath and re-attaching the loose wire which may need soldering. You're probably better off just buying a charger. In my experience, cables tend to last longer if you don't tightly wrap or twist them during storage; I generally just loosely fold them.
Q:I'm trying to use a stereo wire instead of a mono wire for an output from a circuit I've built. The problem is, the gold wire has been cut too short, and I'd rather not strip it back any further since I don't have a lot of cord to work with. Since there are three wires (red, white, gold - ground) can I use either the red or the white as output, and the remaining color for ground, or do I have to use the gold cable for the ground and let the remaining wire dangle (taped)? Thanks
They're just wires - you can do what you want with them. You run the risk of forgetting that you've ignored the colour coding though!
Q:I dont' know if quot;a wiremeans phone call, or whatever the original sentene from the story is as follows:quot;Because I had a wire from Hilton Cubittthis morning.quot;
Wire is as obsolete a word as telegram or cable, which is what wire stands for.
Q:I need the wiring diagram for the 1992 Lexus ES300 OE Stereo.I specifically need to know what colors (or numbers) the wires are for the front right and front left bottom door speaker.
Here ya go, 1994 Lexus ES300 Car Audio Wiring Diagram Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Gray Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Blue/Red Car Radio Ground Wire: Brown Car Radio Illumination Wire: Pink/Blue Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: N/A Car Stereo Antenna Trigger Wire: N/A Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: Pink/Blue Car Stereo Amplifier Location: Right of the glove box. Good Luck!
Q:I am installing a Pioneer head unit in a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder. All the wires from the harness to the deck are connected according to color. I was able to connect all of the wires except for the stock orange/black wire coming out of Nissan's harness. I am assuming this wire has something to do with the illumination. The pioneer does not have an orange/black wire to connect it to. The deck will not turn on at all if the orange/black wire is:- not connected to anything- connected to the red power wire- connected to the yellow power wireThe deck will turn on if the orange/black wire is:- connected to the black ground wire- connected to the remote wireHowever when the headlights are turned on the head unit cuts off and will not turn back on until the headlights are shut off again. In other words, the deck will work fine until the headlight switch is turned to the on position. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Thanks, Dan
This link may not be accurate... The only wire I see in the first link which is close in color is the black/yellow wire for the left rear speaker ground....no black/orange combo shown. Factory ground wire should be grey...test with a test light to confirm Constant power is pink....test also Switched power is blue...test also Once you confirm which wires are power and ground, hook those up to the deck wiring and then run the speaker wires to the proper ones on the factory harness. You can't always connect the same color wires from an add-on deck unit to factory wiring....wiring colors will differ. Consult the installation instructions or call the deck manufacturer tech assistance hotline. Make sure you have the correct wires from the deck hooked up to those factory wires....I'm thinking you have the wrong wire hooked up to the rear speaker ground or deck ground and the unit will only ground when that wire is activated somehow when the light switch is on.... /blue? is the factory illumination wire according to the first link. Have you got that hooked up wrong with the deck ground or speaker?
Q:I have 4 gauge wiring ground and power cables, as well as a smaller guage wiring that is colored grey. I have the amp hooked up to the gound and power, how do I connect the sub to the amp?The subs is a 08 L7 in the kicker truck box wired to 2 ohms. The amp is the Alpine PDX 1.600.
take (i use 12 gauge wire on my sub installs) 16-14 gauge wire and hook up the positive on the amp to the red terminal on the sub and negative to the black one. I'm not really sure what you need exactly
Q:I know that there are wired routers, and wireless routers. Do wired routers do the same thing as wireless routers, without wireless capabilities?
Most if not all wireless routers also work wired! Nearly all of them have at least four wired ports. The access point is the wireless connector, it just connects wireless capable machines to the exact same point within the router as the wired plugs do. A Wired router does not have the internal access point. With a wired router you can add wireless ability by simply adding an access point to them. The AP (access points) cost about as much as a full wireless router so you don't see them used very often but they are available. All the wireless does is eliminate the need for a local cable. Really that's all it does. Any computer connected to a router is connected to the router, wired or wireless makes no difference, although as a general statement the wired machines will be faster! So yes wired and wireless routers do exactly the same thing, they route local traffic for several machines to one broadband connection.
