1. Structure of Mud Gate Valve Description

- Q:I'm thinking of buying a used 2006 Volkswagen Jetta. It has a 1.5 liter 20 valve engine, and I really don't know what that means. That's good, right?And is this a good used car to buy?
- Are you sure its a 1.5 liter 20 valve engine? Jetta's of that year came with a 2.5 liter 5 cylinder engine (which would have 20 valves, 4 valves per cylinder.) Basically what valves do is some open to allow air to enter the cylinder, and then some open to allow the combusted mixture of air/fuel to exit. Most vehicles (to my knowledge) have four valves per cylinder nowadays, I know it was less in the past, but I think just about all have four valves per cylinder now. Five cylinders is just one more than four, one less than six. Oh, and Jetta's are actually quite nice vehicles. I would definitely pick one up if I were in the market for a used car, and found one at a decent price.
- Q:Ok, so I was just wondering, do you have to have a turbo to get blow-off valves? Also, do you have to have a manual? And are there any other requirements?
- A blow off valve releases the excess pressure from your forced induction system when you close the throttle plate. It prevents turbo surge. If you install one on your naturally aspirated vehicle, all it will do is get you laughed at. As for the manual, READ IT! Blow off valves have nothing to do with the transmission, so automatic or manual, makes no difference. Word of advise: Don't work on or modify your car. You'll make it slower at the very least.
- Q:Hey, ive got a scooby and have a baileys dump valve that is a loud deep wooooosh sorta sound. What dump valve does the more high pitch sound? also they dump valve with the higher pitch seems to need less presure ta dump, mine needs alot of pressure before it will dump loud?
- if i remember rite you can adjust the control settings for your dump valve so that it will dump at a lower pressure and a lower pressure dump should also give you the sound that you are looking for.
- Q:1998 Ford Crown Victoria LX 4.6L Use 89 Octane BP, Shell, Chevron gas. When the engine is under stress(acceleration or going up incline) the engine sounds like the valves are chattering. I can increase the rpm's and the chattering goes away. Had the same problem with 95 Thunderbird 4.6 and have heard other ford cars going down the road with this problem. Air leak? Don't really want to use higher octane due to gas prices and possible engine damage. Also, in the thunderbird, i used a bottle of octane boost and the next day a valve spring broke. Was the octane boost a possible cause?
- it is not valve chatter, it is called Pinging, it is a fairly common problem, what it is caused by is hot spots in the engine, or by overly advanced spark timing, i would check your base timing, perhaps even back it off a degree or two, i would also run a bottle of marvel mystery oil, or gm top engine cleaner through a vacuum line to burn out the crud that has built up, the sum total of these repairs: about 15 bucks, the savings: your engine! as for your t-bird, it was the pinging that broke the valve spring, not the tank of hi octane. hope this helps

- Q:just picked up my test results from cardiologist and I see it says: Assessment: 1+ tricuspid valve insufficiency and 1+ pulmonic valve insufficiency Aim 19 years old this test is a year old. (Never went back to the doc to get them until now) the reason I went back is because I feel a slight discomfort in my chest from time to time. - Why are you removing the *cover* on the fill valve? That thing was never meant to come off. I hate to say it, but I think you just destroyed your valve. Go buy a new one, they are cheap and unless they went through a redesign since you bought the last one, the seating tube coming into the tank doesn't even need to be changed. Lefty loosey the damaged valve while putting slight pressure in the downward direction and it will pop out. Just install the new one and don't forget the overflow tube connection. Throw the rest of the stuff away, you won't be needing it (if for some reason in the future you do need it you will never find it again anyway).

- All hot water heaters have what they call Anode Rods For more than 60 years, it has been used as a key part of the rust protection of a tank. The rods are made of magnesium or aluminum that's formed around a steel core wire and is screwed into the top of the tank. A lot of the times they are on the hot water outlet. You should have a dielectric union separating the galvanized pipe on the top of the water heater from the copper pipe for your house supply. You should be able to remove the anode rod from the tank and get a replacement from your local plumbing supply store. Most likely the sediment/ hard water deposits have deteriorated the rod and have caused corrosive deposits to clog your lines.
