Q:I'm a student trying to design a mounting structure for solar panels. I'm reading about passive trackers so as to track the sun for optimal energy production; but I am not fully quot;seeinghow it works. Can someone please help explain it to me, or at least send me a link(s) that could help explain it well?THANKS IN ADVANCED!! [and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!]
It appears to be relying upon a phase change of liquid to gas to liquid to balance the system and return it to the east in the morning.
Q:So my buddy and I have an idea to start a small Solar Installation business. Small as in I am only willing to do one weekend a month and two weeks a year(I know it sounds like the reserves). These are my specific question:) What is the average cost in the U.S. to have Solar Panels installed?2) What is the average cost in the state of Hawaii to install Solar Panels?3)Is this a worth while venture? (There's a good chance i'm going to ignore this one anyways LOL!)4)How long does it take to install a photovoltaic solar panel?5)How long does it take to install a hot water solar panel?6)Besides the obvious, what permits are needed to get our start?7)What education or Cert. is needed?8)Average time to start up?If there is any other information you believe pertinent to this subject that I didn't ask directly, please share. Thank you for your help in advance!
The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) is the “gold standard” for PV and solar heating installation certification. Cost vary on the size and difficulty of the project. The price of the panels are dropping and technology is getting better. A rough rule of thumb estimate would be $3 per watt for all the hardware and then double that to cover labor and overhead (insurance, permits, gas for the truck etc) Solar thermal has a faster payback than PV. The panels themselves go up fairly quickly. Installing roof mount attachments can take some time. This is also one of the points of liability. If done improperly the roof may leak and cause more damage than the profits on that job could pay for. There are a number of kits and pre-bundled packages available. You might try installing one of those on a friendly first. Make it a weekend project for yourself or on a friend or relatives house.
Q:Can solar panels be installed on any type of roof?
Solar panels can be installed on almost any type of roof, including asphalt shingle, metal, tile, and flat roofs. However, the feasibility and ease of installation may vary depending on the roof's condition, angle, and orientation towards the sun.
Q:what are solar panels?
every time i hear the word solar panels i think those large or small flat shiny black or grey surfaces that absorb the sunlight and convert the heat and so on so forth into energy like electricity But ...i dont know how they fully work really so, i dunno.
Q:Can solar panels be installed on a sloped roof?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a sloped roof. In fact, sloped roofs are a common choice for solar panel installations as they offer an optimal angle for capturing sunlight. However, it is important to consider the pitch and orientation of the roof to ensure maximum efficiency and proper installation.
Q:Can solar panels be used to power a drone?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power a drone. By integrating solar panels onto the surface of a drone, the panels can convert sunlight into electrical energy, which can be used to power the drone's motors and other electronic components. This allows for extended flight times and increased sustainability as the drone can harness renewable energy from the sun.
Q:planning to get one, for a store/house, we use alot of electricity at least 500-3000 dollars a month. how much money would this save us? how big would we have to get the solar panel?[aproximately]
There are a lot of factors to consider. Net metering, utility rates, number of hours of daylight, size and orientation of roof or other location. I can tell you I had a 3.74 kwhdc system which reduces my bill by about $200 a month. It cost $26K installed, I received a $0K rebate from my utility and a $2K federal tax credit. Businesses have always been able to get a 30% fed. tax credit, this year everyone gets it. If this is a business you plan on owning for a long time there is no reason why you can't do the install in stages. Of course making sure you are conserving as much energy as possible will also help. Using energy efficient lighting, appliances and electronics, Turning off lights, monitors, computers, printers etc when people go home, sharing printers and other resources, adjusting the thermostat and using natural light can all help reduce your electricity usage.
Q:How do I hook up solar panels to my home
The fourth answer (kinetic energy) is totally wrong except for follow the instructions If you don't have the basic qualifications, you shouldn't even try besides falling off your roof and electrocuting someone else with bad connections. Solar panels produce low voltage DC power (up to 48 volts depending on design) which can be used directly but rarely is. DC power is stored in batteries for night, overcast days, and times of higher usage. The battery power must be fed through an inverter to produce 20 (or 240) volt AC power that your appliances use. The inverter to house connection must be made in a way that when the main power is turned off (like for repairs) your solar sourced power is not on the wires to hurt someone.
Q:I am designing a solar panel but i need to have maximum power output. How can i optimize the equation for power Total power=voltage * current to get maximum power.
first place the panel so it is at right angles to the solar rays. Make sure none of the panel has any shade whatsoever. For best results use motor drives to keep it in that position as the sun moves across the sky. For overall maximum versus time, you need to be near the equator. Solar cells have a high internal resistance, so for maximum power transfer, you need a load of that same resistance. A good charge controller will use DC-DC converters to provide that load. .
Q:Was at home depot today and a Solar City sales man came up to me, offering me free solar panels. He said he could install them on my garage for free, free installation, free panels. Promised me it wouldn't cost me a dime. This is obviously appealing to someone like me who has a $200.00 monthly electrical bill. Now my question is this. Is this a scam? Are there ANY hidden fees or things I should be weary of?- I understand I may not save tons of money, but if I can save even something as low as $20 a month I would be happy. I live in a sunny area and they seem very interested in my garage roof. Any information would be super-helpful, thank you.
What that means is free, considering the cost of electricity saved, i.e., no additional out-of-pocket costs. It could still be a good deal. For example, your bill is now $200 a month. Maybe the solar drops your bill to $40 a month, and you pay $50 a month to SolarCity for the duration of the lease. One thing to remember, though is that only works if your bill drops to $50 a month or less. If the panels don't produce enough, you may end up paying a $60 electric bill, and still $50 to Solar City, for the duration of the lease. They will also count on getting your federal tax credit, so I don't know how that works into the price. Also, they must make money as a leaseholder or financer, so it shouldn't be as good a deal as simply installing panels and paying for the whole thing up front. We installed solar electric in 2006, and it's still working great. If I had to do it over again, I think I'd get solar hot water first, though.
