Are you positive you have all the power cables connected properly, the extra 4-pin ATX12V power connector near the CPU, the PCI-E power connector(s) to the video card? Otherwise, if the computer seems to start up for a couple seconds, but then switches right off, the motherboard might be shorting against the case. Did you have trouble getting the motherboard to line up inside the case? Are the motherboard screws centered properly on the screw holes? Is there clearance along all four edges of the motherboard? The other place you can have a clearance problem is the support plate for the CPU heatsink, on the back side of the motherboard. (Or, sometimes, screws behind the chipset heatsink.) The test to see if the motherboard is shorting on the case, is to pull everything out, and hook up all parts separately, outside the case. Set the motherboard on some bubble wrap or something, and hook up all the other parts. If the parts start up and run, outside of the case, then you can start looking for where it might be shorting. (That particular Thermaltake power supply is made by Compucase, and it's a piece of junk. You should think about replacing that no matter what.)

That's right, the power cable is in case your power supply doesn't have a 6-pin power connector. A 300W power supply for a 3850 is cutting it a bit close, but you'll probably get away with it if the rest of your machine is typical. (Typical machines with a 3850 are just under 200W peak. See link.)

That's the main power connector for the motherboard. It probably plugs into that white socket behind it on the board, but check the motherboard manual to make sure you put it in the right place. It's pretty hard to plug things into the wrong place most of the time, but check to be sure.

Hard disks typically use the 4-pin molex connectors. I can see at least two free in your picture. Basically just use the one that fits, there should only be one that fits anyway.

No, it really doesn't matter. All xbox 360's can use the 203W power supply. Though you can not use the 175w or 150w power supply with a 203w xenon motherboard xbox. There are 2 different types of 203w power supply, there's a 2 pin and a 3 pin. It really doesn't matter which one you get, one is grounded and one isn't.

Contact HP, this laptop was designed for Vista so more than likely there are no drivers available for xp.

I all my years, I've yet to see a power supply that doesn't come with a new power cable. Thing is, tho, the power cable is standard in 99.9% of power supplies. One will pretty much work on another.
