Q:Friend’s dog chewed my fuel pump wires on my 90 Chevy caprice classic I need to know what colors match up correctly. I have coming from the pump: Purple, Gray or (Tan color) black, only other wires in site coming from tail light harness are Pink, Gray, black/ white stripe. I have tested these wires and found out that the (black/white wire was ground, Pink was hot, Orange was hot not didn't light up as bright as the pink with the test light) Found nothing in Mitchell’s book to help also called dealers I printed out a wiring diagram but not much help..
90 Caprice Classic
Q:ok...all the wires in my quot;atticare encased in this silver metal casing....when i opened a bathroom wall...the wires were also like that.....at the fuse box...they all leave like that........sooooo, can i assume all my wires are encased like that? does that make them pretty safe from rodents chewing? (yup-been watching Billy the Exterminator) why were they done like that? tx for any info....
In the U.S. it WAS called BX and is now called MC, standing for metallic clad. (If the lines are flex-able). This stuff was used to protect from damage. This is usually used in commercial applications, but is perfectly legal (if the proper connectors were used) in residential applications. It sounds like you are doing a remodel. If so, you will need a EXPERIENCED electrician to modify the runs for you. Don't let anyone tell you it is against code. It is simply overkill.
Q:A wire is 1.5 m long and has a diameter of 1.5 mm. The stretch modulus of the wire is 6.2 x 10^10 N/m^2. If a force of 400 N is applied to end of the wire then the increase in length of the wire is???please help, thanks
The stretching of wire by longitudinal force: If F force applied across the crosectional area A of wire of radius r and lenght L then the wire elaogates in the dirextion of force Stress P = F / A A = pi* r^2 = (1.5/2)*10^-3 = 7.5 *10^-4 m^2 strain produced = dL / L = increase in length / original L Young's modulus or elastic (stretch) modulus for the maretial, within elastic limits, Y = stress/strain strain = stress / Y dL = F * L / A * Y = F * L / pi (r^2) * Y dL = 400* 1.5 / 3.14 (7.5 *10^-4)^2 * 6.2*10^10) meter dL = 0.005479 * meter dL = 5.479 millimeters increase in length
Q:Well I have a mono D and it has - - + + on it and I want to to wire my dvc 4ohm sub to 2 ohms but I'm not sure what terminals I hook the speaker wire up to?
wire okorder /... and than wire it to any of the negatives on the amp its all one channel internally so it really doesn't matter which negative u use. than wire the positive to any positive on the amp.
Q:I have a 1997 saturn sc2. In the trunk of my car there was a wire dangling down from the top when i bought it. Asked seller and he didnt know. It is not the trunk light wire or has to do with any of the tailights, blinkers, brake lights. It looks like a factory wire. It has a bunch of holes in the connector.
what color is the wire? i ask because i have a wiring diagram.
Q:when u first get braces do they put the bands and the wire or just the bands cuz im getting them monday
You get the brackets with bands and the wire. Rubber bands, though, come later.
Q:Ceiling lights wire guage
It may depend on whether you are connecting to an existing circuit or you are running an entirely new one from your panel. If you are connecting to existing circuitry, then you need to check the breaker size. If it is a 15 amp circuit, then #14 is acceptable. If it is a 20 amp, then you must use at least #12. It is very unlikely that you are required to use #10. NEC does not require it for a 20 amp circuit. If you are running a new circuit, then you have your choice. Just make sure that the breaker sizes and wire sizes match as described above. Contrary to the advice of some, it is just fine to run a 15 amp / #14 circuit for lights. The key is to avoid overloading the circuit. If you are just going to add a couple of fixtures, then the 15 amp will be fine. If you are adding 20 recessed can fixtures, you might consider the 20 amp circuit option. If you think that you are going to add more to the new circuit later, consider that when you decide which size to use. The difference comes in working with the wire. #14 is much easier to bend and work with. I certainly would not attempt to use #10 unless you actually do have some weird local codes that require it.
Q:When it is time to replace wiring in a building?
Should your power needs increase, you can add additional circuits without having to replace the existing ones. Typically you'll need to replace wiring if it has become damaged or is otherwise worn out. Wires may be damaged due to a variety of reasons. Rodents are notorious for chewing on exposed wires in attics and other crawl spaces. Construction and re-modeling may damage wires. Wires can also wear out due to age or extreme conditions of heat or cold. Very old wires used before the 1960s made use of rubber and fabric for their insulation. These materials would degrade over time, resulting in shorts and arcing, which poses a fire hazard. These wires should be replaced - at a minimum, they should be protected with an arc-fault interrupter circuit protector. There is some debate that older copper wire contains too much oxygen, which can cause issues, but this is not conclusive yet. In some cases, you might need to replace older wire in order to make use of modern appliances. For example, very old homes might utilize 3-wire 240 volt circuits. Modern 240 volt appliances, like your kitchen stove, cannot use this wire - they require a type of cable with 4 wires.
Q:The 1992 camry wiring diagram comes up to about 19 wires, my stock stereo that I unplugged from the back on the harness has about 14, and it has 3 black wires 2 brow, 2 green and 2 red, the others only have one wire, why is this?
Each okorder /... That site should bring you some clarity.
Q:Is it okay to solder wrapping wire to a mother board, I am just asking because the wires are called WRAPPING.
Soldering is fine. As with any wire, be sure to tin the wire first (give it its own thin coat of solder before attempting to solder it to anything else) and secure the wire mechanically so that the solder joint isn't subjected to vibration or other stress. A blob of glue will do the job.
