Q:push plastic bags in between the outside wall and the inside walls?I save all of my plastic bags from Walmart and all other storesI have a huge amountof themWhy not put them to good use?
Plastic bags will not do much for an insulating factor but think in terms of a firePlastic burns rapidly and gives off toxic fumes that will kill you and they also burn with a god awful black smoke making it impossible to seeWhy not go to Lowe's or Home Depot and but the sacks of blow in insulation and rent their blow in machine you can do your walls where you can get in and fill your attic space to R40 which is about 12 inches thickIf you cannot get at the walls in your attic because of the top plates than prior to renting the machine buy a 2 1/4 inch hole saw and drill a hole at the middle and top of each outside wall between the studsTake the drywall circle out of the hole saw carefully so you can tape them back over the holes so nothing comes out the holes before you tape and fillThis may sound like a lot of work but boy is it ever worth itYou will be able to cut you heat bills in half not to mention air conditioning or just making your home more comfortable and quieter inside as wellI hope this helps you and good luck with this projectRichard
Q:3 days ago I think my German Shepherd ate some of the pink insulation by our water heaterThere was a big hole and not enough pieces to fill it back upHe was acting fine so we decided just to watch him to see if everything was okWell, today I went outside with him to go potty and he has the shits. Is it to late? Will he die? Or is he just working it out of his system?
Get your dog to the vet NOW! Pink insulation doesn't desolve in the body, it swells and starts causing major internal issuesGET GOING! At this stage, your dog may have a day or 2 at most.
Q:Our project: we were assigned a virusnow were supposed to make a model of the virus using materials.I was assigned the Ebola virus. All the Ebola virus is, is a friggin STRING! It's a tiny, loopy string.Everyone else in my class have these complex virsuses that they have so many options of materials to use and sh+tOur teacher wants us to be very creative, put alor of time effort to make this. She's also a critical graderno I can't change the virus ))):
heat the plastic slowly and press together
Q:What to buy for the snow and driving in it, as a Senior citizen?
That is a tough one but here are a couple of ideas I have found along the wayA lot of people have started to use compost bins for all their food scrapsThat way you have a place that is safe from animals and you can re-use the compost in your gardenI have a large galvanized bucket, that I use for gardening and stash that under the sink for the foodstuffI also have a garbage disposal that takes a lot of the food scraped off the plates Any of the other containers, that can't be recycled like plastic and such, I put into a separate large galvanized bucket that I keep in the pantryWe have some great containers from our local trash companyOnce my bucket is full, I can dump it into the trash container and I don't use any plastic at all since all the yucky stuff went into the compost bucket The buckets are found at your local hardware store or garden centerThey aren't as big as a trash can but some do have lidsI think I have even seen some at container storesIf you have a recycling center in your area, they can usually tell you where you can purchase items to help with recycling without using plasticHope that helps.
Q:If I wanted to Spray Paint or Dip an Object in order to Color it, what would that Dip be? Must be ORGANIC!?
In my neighborhood lives a family that is very much handicappedAll members! One of the daughters was raped and killed quite a few years agoThe father always collected cans and soon as word got out everyone began saving their aluminum for themThey were permitted to go into yards if necessary to get themThe father is now in a motorized scooter with oxygen and the mentally handicapped daughter runs to all the houses collecting the cans while the father waits with the cart on the streetIf I am outside she always yells 'thank you sir' while running with the cansBefore that I did recycle the aluminum but not as dedicated as I should have beenI think it is very smart and responsible to recycle the cans I am happy to hear there is a good price.
Q:I am buying a house and during the home inspection we found that the attic is about 80% covered in black moldThere is no vent leading outside of the houseWhat can we ask the seller's to do to fix this? What is the best way to fix it? 5 years down the road I don't want to have the same problem if we try to sell the house.
I would suggest pricing out the remediation, deducting it from your purchase price, and overseeing the work yourselvesAsking the seller to take care of it is just begging for a shoddy jobUnless you're in Florida, there are no licenses or certifications required to do mold remediationA poor remediation job can actually make the problem worse by spreading mold spores throughout the house I am currently dealing with the same situation on several buildings I'm working onWe hired a mold consultant who advised us that we could effectively encapsulate the mold with spray foam insulationIf the majority of the mold is on the underside of the sheathing, and the sheathing is still in decent condition, this is your best optionWith the spray foam you don't need to install venting, because the whole space becomes part of your conditioned envelopeIf the sheathing isn't in good condition, the roof needs to be replaced, regardless of the moldIf this is the case, just make sure the rest of the house is effectively sealed off during the removal.
Q:tomorrow i have to make a craft for 1st graders at churchthe subject is about complaining and to not complainany ideas for a craft and a fun game? thanks!
Juanita and J are rightAn inch of spray-on insulation foam, (and there are several types, one of which is a soy based, and therefore NOT petro-chemical goo) will do you more good than any amount of fiberglass will, and will out preform foamboard tooIf you completely fill your wall cavities with foam, your home will have several times the insulative value of your freezerNow THAT'S insulation!
Q:I have a 900 sqfoot condo, and I think the insulation is horrible, so the gas bill is often over $100/monthI think there are ways to better insulate and save money on heating, but I don't know details
i tought this question would menstion the london tube.
Q:I have $70which ones are better? i have short think hair, and I need an iron that wont burn, and break my hairany sugustions? I also have to get some type of something that you put in your hair before you blow dry and straighten my hair? ??? Help!
