- Goggles? Some are made to be worn over glasses- extra standoff space, relief by ears for glass ends. Lots of Industrial goggles designed for glass wearers and the 'sporting' goggles for motorcycles and ATVs, snowmobiles common to have extra space over nose for glasses to be worn. The ones to worry about are the 2 small port types sort of like swimmers goggles, they don't have the space for glasses. Get the large, single lens goggle with Lexan or thick polycarbonate 'glass' and you be able to see and not worry about rocks in eyes. I now have a helmet with face shield but still have the 1/2 helmet for students, passengers - I have a snowmobile goggle set and a couple industrial safety glasses to use with it- 1 of the industrial sets is meant for use with glass- frame is large 'flange' so shield part is about 3/4 inch forward of the simpler wrap around model, side shields are connected to the folding earpieces- helmet strap can go over the ear pieces to hold them on. Check the local optical stores for 'sports' or 'Industrial' safety glass's - they usually carry good stuff for their customers, the eyeglass wearers. Cycle/ATV shop likely to have some also- and often a good but cheap set can be found in farm supply or welding supply shop.

- there are all kinds of adapters and connectors but but they all designed to slip one inside another in order to be glued or clamped with maximum surface area and stay water tight, I would suggest using screws to holdyour PVC pipes together so the frame will not fall apart but can be taken apart. you will need a drill so as not to break the PVC but this can be borrowed or purchased for $50 if you don't have one. Alternatively duct tape could hold for a season

- Always, always, always wear your goggles! Welding flash is no fun and can be quite painful as well. I had a dumb *** friend that got welding flash several times. You are basically blind for a day or longer and it feels like someone is rubbing sand in your eyes! Also, make sure your shoes are tied tightly so that sparks or chunks of metal from a cutting torch cannot fall in. A welders beanie (skull cap) is also a great idea if you plan of gas welding. Older filler rods will spark a lot and sparks will fall on your head regularly.. no one likes to smell burning hair! Always watch where your torch is pointing when sparking it you can burn yourself very badly and very quickly if you do not pay attention. I have seen a burn caused by this very nasty. This last one is common sense but if you are arc welding make sure you are in a dry area you are playing with a lot of power. Welding is a great skill to have best of luck to you!
