Q:I was re-wiring a light switch and a fan control knob and I accidentally cut a wire too short. This wire comes out the front of the fan dial and goes around to the back, connecting to another wire, thus placing a wire nut impossible. Can I just link the two ends together, then seal it with electrical tape? Or do I have to buy a new fan dial (which will cost $25, a cost I'm trying to avoid)? Will just the tape be safe enough?
You should go to Home Depot or an electric store and get some beans to connect them. The associate will tell you how to connect them. Or just youtube, 'beaning electric wire'
Q:awg is an american stander to manufacturing electrical wires
To repair it your self, which is what your question seems to be asking....Leave the breaker off.. Unscrew the burnt wire from the fixture. Pull the black wire out a bit for some slack to work with,. Cut the scorched wires end off to fresh wire, and strip the plastic coating off of the wire up to about an inch. If it isn't a solid piece of wire twist the ends so they form a smooth wire. Use some pliers, (needle nosed, work best ) to create a u in the stripped wire, and then hook it around the screw you removed the wire from, Making sure no exposed wire touches the other wire that is screwed on the plug too, tighten it down then push the wires back into the wall and remount the plug and cover. Then I would check the other outlet that is on that same breaker just for safety's sake.
Q:Theres a Green Illumination wire from the factory setup, where do I connect that wire too on my aftermarket deck? Also theres a White/Blue wire that I dont know where it connects either?
Metra Wire Harness part number 70-1002 is the wiring harness for your truck.
Q:I have a audiofonics adf-240 and I want to wire it to 1 ohm
To wire an amp to a certain ohm load depends on the speakers..... not the amp .... the amp just has to be stable at the ohm load you wire the speakers to.....but there's your next problem , that amp is NOT 1 ohm stable.... Its 2 ohm stereo and 4 ohm bridged stable.
Q:Does anyone know what the wire harness is called that runs from the chassis to the door called on a 1995 jeep gc. This wire harness includes the speaker wires, power window wires, and power lock wires. I have checked everywhere and cannot see what this harness is called.
Its called a wire harness. I beleive it is the main dash wire harness, but you wont get anywhere with that if you are trying to get one from a parts house or dealer, You just have to hit and miss at the salvage yard or digging around yourself and get lucky. But if you can trace the wires to a block connector or firewall connector you will be in luck and just tell them the location of the block where the harness is connected and you should be there, just remember all your options in you truck will have to match the options in the donor truck or the harness wont work for you
Q:where can i buy these type of wires (copper insulated wires)??
You can buy it at the suggested locations. Insulated wires come in many types for various uses. Be sure the person you buy it from knows the use for which you are buying it. For instance, wire or cable for underground use is far different from house wiring.
Q:Is there a Martial Arts / Fighting style that uses wires or whats the practices that uses wires called?
Wires are used in the filming of MA movies.
Q:I just bought an aftermarket cd player for my Grand Cherokee and I would rather not have to cut and strip wires so I want to get an wiring harness adapter. My question is, can I just get any wiring harness adapter or do I need the direct connection adapter that is specifically made for Chrysler to Kenwood?
You just get the jeep wiring adapter and then solder or use crimp caps/butt-connectors to connect the wires to the aftermarket harness that comes with the aftermarket headunit. Also, depending on what year Jeep you have you may need an antenna adapter. AND I believe on the Jeeps (like the chryslers) there is not a usable ground wire in the factory wiring harness which means you will need to ground the aftermarket ground wire to the chassis via an existing bolt or drilling. Or, if the stock radio has one of these metal-mesh things affixed to the back, you can use that thing as well. But when you match up the Jeep harness you buy to the factory harness and you will be able to tell if there is ground wire in factory harness.
Q:I need to buy some electrical wire for my car, does it matter what color the copper wire is inside of ( i.e. black, yellow, red, green, blue, etc.)
Wire comes in different gages, as well as colors. But if it is copper it will work.
Q:Please help. I am trying to fit a new light into a house with old wiring. My new light just has a connection block with 1 blue wire and 1 brown wire. When I removed the old light there are 5 wires coming from the ceiling. 1 black and 1 red coming from one lead and 1 black and 1 red coming from the other. Any ideas how I wire this up. Many thanks.
before to many Americans jump in - I have to say the colours you are quoting make me sure you are in the UK - so :- If there are only 4 wires (not 5 as you say at one point) then join the two reds together in a connector block and tape that up completely with insulating tape and make sure it is safe somewhere - many light fittings have an additional connection just for this purpose. Now connect the blue from the light to one black and the brown to the other black wire (it does not really matter which to which although purists may like you to find the true live for the brown) If however there are 5 wires you need to do a bit more investigation . EDIT - the two earth wires should be securely joined together to make sure that earth continuity is maintained throughout the rest of the house - then tape them up - preferably with green and yellow tape but black will do and tuck them back up into the ceiling as far away from the two reds as you can manage. ....
