Q:I got my scaffolding approximately about 7 weeks ago maybe just a lil over, I want to know when is a good time to change the bar/take it out, I am keeping up with cleaning it 2 to 3 times a day with the saline solution, even though, it only requires to be cleaned 1-2 times a day to be fair though

Scaffold piercings, being two cartilage piercings connected by a single bar, take six months for initial healing and twelve months for a fully healed tunnel of flesh to be formed. Don't change it yet, I assure you, you will regret it. Just be patient, keep on cleaning, cleaning, salt-soaking.

Q:They can see a good place to anchor it but they won't start to build the scaffolding. I've used different builders and tried different bits of the paths, but its just not working. What do I do?

Q:i have an interview tomorrow but have a scafold piercing in , its been in there for about 2/3 months nearly healed competely , how ling can i leave it out for , maybe 30-45 minutes? thanks

They take around 6-9 months to heal completely...you shouldn't be taking it out at all. I stupidly took mine out after 3 months to clean a bit behind the bar and the bar would never go back through the top hole. It hurt like crap and bled profusely if I tried to push it through.

Q:So, 12 Days Ago I Went To Blue Banana To Get Scaffolding On My Right Ear. Everything Went Fine And They Did A Brilliant Job. I Clean It With Sea Salt Soaks 2-3 Times A Day And Use A Bit Of Tea Tree Oil After To Help Sooth. I Was Just Wondering From People Who've Experienced This Piercing How Long It Took For Yours To Stop Hurting And The Time It Took For The Swelling To Go Down (: Thank You lt;3

It only really hurt for the first month-ish but was really tender for the first 3 months. After that, I barely noticed it was there. Goodluck :]

Q:I got an industrial/scaffold piercing a few months ago and currently have captive bead rings in (The piercer put those in after he pierced it). The piercings are now healed enough for me to change the piercing, and I found an industrial bar on ebay which I'd really like to order. Only problem is, it has two choices on the gauge thickness and length, and I don't know which mine is.The gauge sizes available are 1.2mm (16g) or 1.6mm (14g) , and the length options are 32mm, 35mm, 38mm.Does anyone know which would be the best to get? Thanks.

Q:Right! I've heard from so many different people about this. Some say that you should never twist an industrial because it can damage the delicate newly healing skin cells. Others say that you must twist it to prevent the jewelry from healing attached to the skin and to be able to clean it properly.There really doesn't seem to be a definitive answer!My piercer has said not to twist it, so I haven't been, and I'm happy that the piercing is clean enough, etc. However I'm interested in whether any of you out there have found that not twisting it can damage it more than doing so.Thanks

i twisted mine alot and the cartlidge inbetween has ripped and it hurts unbelievably loads, so i wouldnt twist it

Q:i am getting my industrial (scaffold) pierced on one ear and i want my cartilage on the other ear, how long do i have to wait between them? What are pros and cons for industrial (scaffold)? what are risks and stuff and how much is it? i want to get it so any information or anything i should know would be great thanks especially for industrial:)

You can have both done in the same day if you can handle the pain and shock. Get the industrial done first, and if you still feel OK afterwords, you can get your other ear done by the same piercer. Talk to him/her and let them know what you want to do before you start. If you feel like you need to wait after the industrial, wait at least a day before getting the second piercing. It's all about what you can handle.

Q:I had my scaffold pierced yesterday and now it is swollen and red. Its throbbing and painful. I have cleaned it and applied ice and antiseptic spray.I don't own any sea salt.HELP ME! I'M SO TEMPTED TO REMOVE IT.

Antiseptics are too harsh for a healing piercing, the pain, swelling and redness is completely normal. Stop using antiseptic and go to the grocery store to get some non-iodized sea salt, its only a few dollars and you can find it in the spice aisle where the regular salt is.

Q:hi, ive had my scaffolding for a little over a month now, and one of the holes has started going really weird. on the top, its swollen and sore on one side, and on the bottom, its the same but on the opposite side. not sure if its infected ir being rejected by ear, which ive heard can happen. i would like to keep it in if possible,as i love it. any help welcomed :) thanks xx

It could be infected or it could just be irritated, kind of hard to say. Irritation is usually red, sore, maybe swollen. Infected is red, swollen, painful, hot to the touch, dark yellow to green discharge. Best bet is to do warm sea salt soaks 2-3 times a day for 10-15 minutes each (1/4 teaspoon sea salt per 8oz water) and hit up your piercer for a professional opinion. Do NOT remove the jewelry until you are 100% sure it isn't infected.
