Characteristics of the segment assembly method：

It has the advantages of short duration, smalloccupied space, easy control for quality, high degree of mechanization andautomation, high utilization of templates, and it is applicable to large-scalefactory centralized production.

The new method has been widely used in bridgeconstruction at home and abroad.

Segmentprefabricated template consists of following components:

--fixed end model andbracket,

--side model and bracket,

--bottom model and trolley,

--inner model andtackle,

--matching girder（using moving end model for pier top parts and starting-ending piersegments）.

The Fourth Bridge of NanjingYangtze River (Shibu bridge site) sits inside the Nanjing City, Jiangsu, whoseadministrative divisions are Qixia District and Liuhe District, the west isapproximately 12.5km to the Second Bridge of Nanjing Yangtze River, the east50km to Runyang Bridge, it is the important part of Nanjing Ring Expressway.The construction project of Tender E of this bridge approach contains the upperstructure’s construction of the south bridge approach and north bridgeapproach, using the short-term matching method to prefabricate and install boxgirders by segments. The south bridge approach is of 1489.6m, the north 1313m.The north bridge approach contains two parts: bridge approach which crosses theHuazi River and bridge approach which sits to the south of Huazi River. Thetotal length of the south and north bridge approach is of 2802.6m. ChinaTraffic Harbor Engineering Bureau II, Ltd undertook the task of prefabricationand installation of the segment girders for the upper structure. Started inOctober of 2009 and terminated in December of 2011. They made 20 sets of outermodels and 10 sets of inner models for segment assembled templates.
