Q:Suppose we have a 10v battery.one end of the battery is at 10V electric potential and other is at 0V Hence, the potential difference is 10V.if we measure the voltage( p.d.) across positive terminal at 10V and the middle of the wire connecting both ends of battery will it be less??I mean,at the middle of the wire the electric will not be zero, right??(correct me if am wrong)Thanks!!
If the wire had some reasonable resistance which prevented melting of the wire and explosion of the battery; the middle of the wire would show half the potential difference between the terminals. The wire connecting the terminals becomes a potentiometer with Voltage falling linearly between the terminals (assuming uniform resistance along the length of the wire). In practice, Voltage drop on a wire supplying power to a load is proportional to the resistance of the wire divided by the resistance of the load. When the wire is the load, all Voltage drop occurs along the wire.
Q:When they stole my stereo they ripped everything off now i just have wires i tried looking up wiring harness and nothing.. Im kinda frustrated lol i have 3 blue wires 3 dark greens orange black tan yellow.brown etc.. Can u guys tell me.plz what they are i dont want to keep burning fuses lol

Q:When I cross the black wire and ground I get a spark. Isnthis normal?
You should be tripping the breaker when you cross the two, If not, then something is wrong with the breaker. The black is always hot, this isn't a car. Actually, any colored wire is hot except for the white and the green. So in a big house with emt conduit or a commercial job, any colored wire is hot. A 3 way switch with a 3rd leg traveler that is not marked can carry a load, I got knocked off the ladder the other day by one, some idiot connected the traveler to the white, I got zapped big time. I hate when they do that.
Q:One wire has part of the plastic coating on the end, the other wire does not.
the lead is the wires showing. lead wire can also mean attaching a wire and feed it through a wall attach other end to the wire and pull it through. Now if you need both ends to have wire showing take a utility knife firmly place wire on block of wood and lightly cut through the caseing. thats the thick wire that en cases the other wires and peal back and then cut it off. then carefully hold blade of utility knife and wire aganst your thumb on a 45 degrees away from you and pull that will strip the plastic off the wires hope that answers your question dave
Q:How do I wire an outlet that has two black and to white wires. It this case the white being the HOT wires?? Don't know why all the white wires in my house are HOT.. And the black are nuetral???
If as you say white are (hot) .This situation it's called reverse wiring and has violation .In the main control box check the weirs if white is connect to the neutral terminal (a plate with lot of screws) and black is exit from breakers ,your wiring is correct and may one place in circuit branch by mistake neutral is connect to the hot and hot to neutral (ammature work).
Q:What type of wire do i need to install a normal inside wall outlet? Do i have to use solid copper wire?
Selecting the wire gauge is the easiest part : AWG 12 for a 20 amp receptacle or AWG 14 for 15 amps. Solid wiring is standard for receptacles ( stranded is used in applications where flexibility during or after installation is required). Where will you take power from? Can the circuit you tap carry the additional load? 3 conductor (L1,L0,Ground) BX is the most desirable for indoor wiring at 120v or220v. Will your receptacle be in a kitchen, a bathroom, or near a good ground? If so it should be a GFCI.Will you be able to identify the the circuit's polarity, and verify ground contiuity? Even with three conductor BX, you will want to be sure to use bushings between the conductors and the rough edges of the BX, and to connect the fittings securely at the junction boxes. The actual details and skills required to install a receptacle take years to learn. Take the time to browse through a how- to book or hire a licensed electrician if you want safe reliable work.
Q:I am trying to hook up my motorcycle turn signals but am having trouble with the wiring. Off of each signal stem comes a red wire (positve) and black wire (negative). Then coming form my bike I have a purple wire, blue wire, and green wire. I was messing around with the connections and was able to get all my signals to light up, but not in the fashion i need, like blinking correctly. Any suggestions? Do I need to split the wires? Does one wire go to the left signal and one to the right?
There are many model specific forums out there that would probably be a better place to ask this question. If this is a common model of motorcycle I would try looking for one. To hazard a guess, the green wire should be split and connected to the black wires. The purple and blue would then be the positive. Trial and error would tell you left and right. If you have a multimeter it would eliminate the guesswork.
Q:I have a 1983glastron cvx-16 and need to wire the lights, tach horn fuel guage there are 2 wires coming off the fuel guage one pink from the center and the other looks to be comming off of a bracket not conacted to the tanks fuel guage
Wiring your gauges is pretty easy to do as there are only 3 wires per gauge. You have a positive, negative and sender wire.Your positive wire goes to the I which is the ignition terminal, the negative goes to the negative terminal and the sender wire to the S terminal. That's it,done. To make it a little easier I'll give you the usual colour's of the sender wires. OIL pressure = light blue Fuel =pink or yellow usually pink Tach=gray Temp=light brown or brown Trim sender=brown with a white stripe. Light wire for gauges=blue Your positive wire for your gauges is purple and this wire starts from your key switch, from the I terminal.I hope this helps.
Q:tryin to move dryer approx 8 more feet but existing wire not long enough have 12/2 wire can that be used to run 220 dryer
Really shouldn't use no. 12 wire on an electric dryer...No. 10 is usually the mininum wire size as long as its not more than 30 or 40 Ft.
