Q:What are the common coil finishes available for steel coils?
Steel coils can be finished in various ways to serve different purposes and achieve different aesthetic appearances. Some popular coil finishes include: 1. Hot-dip galvanized: By immersing the steel coil in molten zinc, a protective layer is formed on its surface. This finish is ideal for outdoor applications like roofing, fencing, and automotive parts due to its excellent corrosion resistance. 2. Galvannealed: Achieved by annealing the hot-dip galvanized coil, this finish gives a matte gray appearance. Galvannealed coils have enhanced paint adhesion, making them suitable for subsequent painting or powder coating in applications like appliances and furniture. 3. Electro-galvanized: A thin layer of zinc is electroplated onto the surface of the steel coil in this process. Electro-galvanized finishes offer good corrosion resistance and are commonly used indoors, such as in electrical enclosures, HVAC systems, and automotive components. 4. Pre-painted or coated: These finishes involve applying a layer of paint or a coating system to the steel coil, improving its appearance and providing extra protection. Pre-painted coils are extensively used in construction, appliances, and automotive industries due to their aesthetic appeal and corrosion resistance. 5. Bare or mill finish: This refers to the untreated, raw steel coil without any additional coatings or finishes. Bare steel coils are commonly used in applications where corrosion resistance is not the main concern, such as structural components, pipes, and tubes. These are just a few examples of the many coil finishes available for steel coils, each offering unique properties and advantages depending on the intended use. Carefully considering the specific requirements of the application is important when choosing the most suitable coil finish.
Q:Want to construct a patio cover approx. 20 feet long. Only want to use a 6x6 or 8x8 post at each end. What size steel i-beam would I have to use to carry the load???
First of all is it a rule of thumb with carpenters and ironworkers never to set steel on wood. I would use a 14 tall (2) ply lvl header. *Laminated veneer Lumber. This will hold the weight of the structure between your posts. A steel beam would be quite costly today as prices on steel have skyrocketed, plus you would need a boom truck or small crane to set this beam, and you would need some sort of mounting bracket or holes pre-drilled in the beam ends to secure it to the posts. Plus you would need to have the beam delivered and if your patio is in the backyard - you would need another pc.of equipment to get it around back. Advice from me is to go with an LVL beam. They are 1+3/4 Thick and you would need a (2 ply ) beam, which means you set one pc. and then laminate another one into the first. Glue between layers (use heavy duty liquid nails) and then Lag screw them together. Use 5/16 x 3 lag screws with a washer on each one. Pre-drill holes about 3/16 smaller than lag screws - then insert lag screws and tighten up with an electric impact.
Q:I'm getting my nose pierced, meaning that i have to keep the piercing in for a prolonged time. i've always had reactions when wearing sterling silver or fake earrings (i dont know what types of metal they were) after wearing it overnight. Will I get a reaction on my nose piercing if the stud is surgical steel?
The chances of a reaction from the stud is minimal. Surgical steel is an alloy specifically designed to make sterile safe surgical equipment. Often made with titanium or nickel, surgical steel is highly reactive and forms an oxidized layer when made. This layer creates a stable surface. The titanium and nickel are both very hard and resistant to scratches which make for easy sterilization. This will help keep your piercing clean. Be sure to follow the directions you receive when you get your piercing and keep it clean.
Q:If you keep it dry and clean, what steel will last the longest over the years with continued use and sharpening?
Hard okorder /: The nature, composition, and thickness of the protective surface oxides that form on titanium alloys depend on environmental conditions. In most aqueous environments, the oxide is typically TiO2, but may consist of mixtures of other titanium oxides, including TiO2, Ti2O3, and TiO. High-temperature oxidation tends to promote the formation of the chemically resistant, highly crystalline form of TiO, known as rutile, whereas lower temperatures often generate the more amorphous form of TiO, anatase, or a mixture of rutile and anatase. Although these naturally formed films are typically less than 10 nm thick and are invisible to the eye, the TiO; oxide is highly chemically resistant and is attacked by very few substances, including hot, concentrated HCl, H2SO4, NaOH, and (most notably) HF. This thin surface oxide is also a highly effective barrier to hydrogen.
Q:Already on my team is Empoleon lvl 82Heatran lvl 74Scizor lvl 34Magnezone lvl 38What other steel types should I choose?
Skarmory, Steelix, Metagross, or Bastiodon. Personally I would switch Heatran, as I don't feel right using Legendaries.
Q:i recently got an industrial piercing and instead of getting pierced with a metal bar i have a PTFE bar .. i eventually want to put in a metal bar but what kind do i get? whats the difference between a surgical steel and titanium bar?thanks

Q:Hi,Well, I live near almost across the street from a forest, and my neighborhood is full of raccoons!!! Recently, I just purchased a bunny and have kept it at my cousin's house for the time being. He has a steel cage, and is about 6 months old. I am considering bringing him home and leaving him in the back yard with his steel cage. I am just afraid that raccoons can bite through the steel and get to him. So the question is... Is is possible for raccoons to bite through steel? Btw,Please don't answer hate comments about me being a bad rabbit owner. I simply want to know if raccoons can bite through steel. If it doesn't work out, the rabbit will stay at my cousins house until further notice. But please, I did not waste 5 points for unneeded answers. Thanksss!
Well the raccoons can't bite through steel unless it is very thin steel, like aluminum foil thickness. But they have long arms and can reach into the cage so that would be my worry. They are also very clever so I don't know if it is safe for the bunny. That would depend upon the size of the cage and how hungry the raccoons are. The raccoons might be tempted to try to steal the bunny's food so that is a concern. Check with a pet shop owner or forester or someone like that who has knowledge about raccoons in the area.
Q:did bible stated that steel is coming from outer space. i mean meteor rocks that enter our earth sistem contains the minerals iron.
If you are using either an NAB or RSV translation of the Bible, steel is only mentioned once in the Bible. Compare Nahum 2:4 (NAB) and Sirach 31:26 (RSV). There is no reference of an outer space in the Bible. Furnace is mentioned in Sirach. It takes a lot of energy to mix Iron and Carbon to produce steel. The alloy can only be produced in the furnace at an extremely high temperature.
Q:What is stainless steel coil used for?
Stainless steel coil is commonly used in various industries for manufacturing a wide range of products such as appliances, automotive parts, cookware, construction materials, and even surgical instruments. Its corrosion-resistant properties and durability make it an ideal material for these applications.
Q:i want to know what is light gauge steel and the diffrences between light gauge steel and steel for roof truss.
as a welder i can answere this. wel i think i can after 2 years of classes. so...light guage steel usually referes to the THICKNESS of the metal. also known as SHEET METAL. the only diffrences between light guage and roof truss is that a truss will be thicker metal ex- an i-beam for a structure is usually 1/2inch or 3/8 for smaller buildings. also there is no such thing as light weight steel. steel is steel the only thing that determins its weight is its size/thickness aluminum is a whole nother ballgame. ever see a pound of aluminum vs. a pound of steel? aluminum can be 1/2 or less the weight of steel. but its tensile strength suffers EX. say steel will snap at 70,000 pounds, aluminum will snap at 40,000 pounds, if it even snaps that is! it just tends to bend like rubber. aluminum is handy for many things because it will not rust.
