Q:So, this might seem like an odd question, but here goes.I work in an office and outside the windows there's a crane. Every day I come in from work, it has turn a little. The half-finished building that it stands next to is not being worked on and there's never anyone using the crane during the day. There's no other construction going on in the area is stands at.It's pretty high up like 6th to 7th floot and it's in a windy town. Does that matter?Why would someone turn around a crane during the night? Is it all a scheme to make me paronoid because they know I'm starring out the window most of the day?

Hi Peter no matter how good he brake on the turn table of the crane is it will be effected by the direction of the wind blowing at any time so it will have some influence on the direction the jib or the crane is in. it will turn just like a weather vane does. it is actually a safety feature.

It's a story about a japanese girl who was diagnosed with leukemia. The story goes, if are diagnosed with leukemia and are able to fold a 1000 paper cranes before you die, you will live. This theory actually works the way horoscopes do. It's not that the making of paper cranes makes you healthy, it has to do with the amount of time it takes. If you survive that long, then you have passed the critical death points and will live anyway, whether you make a thousand of them or not. Plus, it gives you something to do a a healthy, short-term reason to live, which always helps the healing process anyway.

Q:I know you need to put current around the magnet (or certain type of metal) in order to attract but is it possible to use as pushing an object away. if there is please tell me how!

To push an object away, you need equipment that is low to the ground when it applies the force. Bulldozers are designed to push objects. Electromagentic cranes are designed to deal with vertical forces, so they are used to lift and drop metal objects. They use electricity to flow through coils wrapped around a metal core to generate a strong magnetic field. Trying to use them to push things could cause a crane to tip over since they are not designed to deal with horizontal forces. Even if you could get the electromagnet wired to repel metal objects, when you bring the electromagnet near the object, it would repel away in an unwieldy manner because of friction and interference with the ground. And trying to direct a large electromagnet at the end of a long chain would be difficult.

Q:When making 1000 origami cranes, do all of them have to be the same size? I already made some of varying sizes. Does it matter? I hope not.Thank you.

They can be made of anything, and they can vary in size, so you're okay.

Q:Recently, it seems that any time my front door is open for any period of time, crane flies start migrating inside. I would like to find a way to keep them out when the door is open. Are crane flies attracted to electric bug zappers?

Are you going to be councilling the fly in a few months time, or having to pay for it's bills when it tries to sue you for being made a cripple? If not, who gives a ****? It's dead. Flies spread disease also.

Well Im not into quantum physics much these days, but in his book Life and Light Lee Smolin proposes that if the quantum theory of gravity has two special features the universe would fine tune itself! If we perturb a Kerr-Newmann black hole so that the new universe will really form on the other side, and that the constants of nature might fluctuate in such a process so that the new universe would have sightly different physics than our own. Q:Two cranes are lifting identical steel beams at the time.One crane is putting out twice as much power as the other assuming friction is neglible, what can you conclude is happening to explain this difference?

One of the cranes has less mechanical advantage then the other. It's a pulley problem.

Gravity acts downwards, force = mass x acceleration. Crane acts upwards at same force. As the crane starts to lift the car there is upwards acceleration that causes more force to be generated for a moment.

Q:I got the crane gold 1.6 roller rocker I'm trying to install on my 95 z28 w/ an lt1 and it doesn't seem like they are installing quite right. I got the tall black nuts that hold the rocker down around the stud and the pushrods, that's it. Do I need to use those things that go below the rockers themselves (the things that slide over the stud and the rocker goes over it from the original rockers) or do I just install how I already am with just the crane rockers, black nuts and pushrods?
