Q:why can't i just use solenoid valves hooked to a small bank of relays(using relay logic to control operation) connected to thermostats to control a multi zone boiler system? it would work, but can i do it, why must i use expensive zone valves?
Its just an educated guess but I would say it would cause system shock if a valve just snapped shut as against closing gently. Assuming the system was shutting down as a zone valve shuts the control switch opens and turns off the plant whilst the valve is still partly open. With a solenoid unless you fit a timer to pre shut off the plant then shut off the solenoid you would probably cause some plant damage. Also by the time you have wired all that lot up you may as well do the job with a zone valve.
Q:I'm thinking about getting a Cold air intake along with a Bypass Valve to prevent Water Indigestion on my Toyota Corolla 07. I was wondering if Bypass Valves actually work and can someone explain to me the physics around it???( How bypass valves work)

Q:ok im buying a kx 125 from 96 and he said the only problem with the bike is that it has a small oil leak around the power valve too me it sounds like a gasket. but i want someone elses opinion on what else it could be.
The kx125 actually has 3 valves in the exhaust, a main, a left-hand one and a right-hand one. Each is fitted with o-rings which require disassembly in order to be reached. This would also be a good time to clean the power valves since they tend to become encrusted with carbon deposits which interfere with their normal operation.
Q:It's filling up a 5 gallon bucket roughly ever 9-10 hours. It was leaking with an old valve and has been replaced, and after being replaced it didn't stop. The temperature has not been adjusted higher or lower, it's exactly where it was for the year before the leak started. Any ideas?
Instructions : 1 Shut off the power to water heater. If electric, turn gas to pilot setting, if a gas water heater. Cut off water supply to water heater as well. 2 Drain the water from tank to just below relief valve. It is not necessary to drain the entire tank. Open a hot water faucet, drain tank from tank drain for approximately three to five minutes. 3 Prepare the new relief valve with Teflon tape. Remove the dip tube and any other connections to the relief valve. Check faucet to make sure water is not running. A slow drip is OK. 4Unscrew the relief valve counter-clockwise with a wrench to remove. Install the new relief valve. Install the dip tube with a compression fitting, if you had to cut it to remove earlier. Make all other connections. 5. Turn the water supply back on to water heater. Make sure water is running from the open faucet before turning the power back on.
Q:Serious answers only please. I have a 1995 Ford F-250 XL 5.8L 351 c.i. engine. My check engine light comes on periodically when I drive. When I bought the truck a year ago the gas mileage wasn't too bad, about 9-10 mpg. I've only put about 3,000 miles on it this past year, and now the needle drops just driving it across town. I work at a Chevy dealership, and I've worked at another Chevy dealer as well as a Ford. I've always done my own work on my cars and am currently restoring a 1967 Mustang, so I have decent knowledge under the hood. I scanned the truck and it has a stored code for EGR valve voltage too high (stuck open). How bad could this be hurting my gas mileage? It's $160 for the valve and sensor even after my discount, and being a college student that's a lotta $ to pay. I'm selling the truck and need it running perfect when I do. Please, serious answers only, and help is greatly appreciated!
Open the hood, find the valve and check its operation. With the engine running, watch the diaphragm and then operate the throttle. When you gun the engine, you should see the diaphragm move. If it doesn't, there may be a dried-out and damaged rubber vacuum hose (quite likely) or else the valve is clogged up with carbon. Pull the valve out and shoot it full of carburetor cleaner to dissolve out the carbon. You should be able to move the operating diaphragm by sucking on the vacuum tube. While you're in there, start the engine without the EGR valve in place and shoot carburetor cleaner into the holes that lead into the intake manifold: one should have vacuum, and the other should have exhaust pressure.
Q:after my hot water tank shuts off about 1/4 cup of water comes out therelief valve. i changed the relief valve. the tank is 6 months old
Do you mean the heating (burner or heating coils) shuts off. If that is the case then you may need an expansion tank. If there is a reverse flow valve at your meter (most locations now require this feature to prevent back flow of water to the main line.) the pressure in your system can build up higher than normal when the hot water tank is heating. Most systems have a small expansion tank installed near the hot water heater to deal with this problem.
Q:Ok i just be nt a valve on my 97 eclipse gst. I did a compression test and all my other cylinders were at 175psi which is good(thank god).My 3rd cylinder is only at 25psi.My mechanic will do the installation of the new valve but his friend has to do a valve job and re condition the whole head. Just because i guess your suppose to re condotion and clean the whiole head when this happens. What do u think a ball park estimate would be for this kind of work?I think he is going to replace all of the valves and seals y hes got the head off. The car has 100k on it and there is nothing else wrong with it. The guy i bought it from put a brand new bosch alternator and waterpump in and it also has a new timing belt so i dont have to worry about it skipping on me. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK WHAT I SHOULD DO? HOW MUCH WILL IT BE? IS IT WORTH RECONDITIONING THE WHOLE HEAD? THX ALOT FOR YOUR INPUT.
mechanic should have told you what the cost would be...and to fix it right you should do them all
Q:What is the best procedure to check/adjust valve clearances? This engine is a perkins diesel inside of a cat generator. I know that he exhaust valve is .018 and the intake valve is .008.
Q:I've been diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse, my doctor just told me that i need to setup an appointment with the hospital to look at treatments for heart mitral valve prolapse-to possibly have a heart valve replaced. I am wondering if i should setup an appointment with mayo clinice in minnesota to get another opinion on that? I'm wondering if surgery is an only option available to me, i have been taking beta blockers that have been no help for the past 3-4 months. Thanks.
was this diagnosis made by a cardiologist? You said your doctor - are you referring to your primary MD. I am going to assume the MVP diagnosis was made by a cardiologist . the referral to the hospital - is this to a cardiac surgery program at the hospital. You may definitely want to get a second cardiology opinion. Do you live near the Mayo clinic? You also have to consider your health care insurance and what they will cover. It sounds as if your MD is sending you in the appropriate direction - to a hospital - to look at treatments. Can you call this hospital to find out more about the services to which you are being referred?
Q:Describe a typical semilunar valve and tell how it works
The semilunar valves are located between the aorta and the left ventricle and between the pulmonary artery and the right ventricle.(aortic valve and pulmonary valve) The semilunar valves are flaps of endocardium and connective tissue reinforced by fibers which prevent the valves from turning inside out. They are shaped like a half moon, hence the name semilunar (semi-, -lunar). they prevent the back flow of blood to left and right ventricles respectively.
