Q:I have a D16Z6 SOHC VTEC engine in my 93 Honda Del Sol.Ive been told that the D16Z6 came with 2 different valve covers. One style cover says Honda on the top and another also says VTEC.I have the one that just says honda but I want the other put on.What would I need to swap them, and where would I get them?and a roundabout price
maybe you can get the cover at your local junk yard. Check and ask around. Since Hondas are so abundant, someone is bound to have it. If not, you can always go to the Honda Dealer. They'll order it in for you the next day. It might be more expensive but it'll be new and they'll be sure to have it. You might also want to check the fit to make sure they're compatable. :)
Q:In my condo, I have what appears to be a water relief valve of some sort right after my water inlet pipe. It's after the water cutoff valve. It's not the water heater relief valve. It has a leak, not bad, just a drip right now. It looks like a half baseball sticking out of the main inlet pipe with a bolt in the center of it. I've tried to tighten it but that makes the leak worse. First, what is this. Second, Is there an obvious fix to this. Third, if I have to get it replaced, what model/manufacturer can I get so that this doesn't happen for a long while. My plumbing is short of fifteen years old.
Sounds like a pressure regulator, cause, relief valves don't have a bolt, they have a lever. If, it is the regulator, and its leaking, it needs to be replaced. Good luck with that.
Q:people tell me i need to install new valves and valve guides
You might not need new valves or valve guides. Mitsubishis, along with many other vehicles, use hydraulic lifters which give off a ticking sound. They're located between the rocker arm, or in the rocker arm, and the head of the valve. It's very common and will not harm the engine. However, if the sound you're hearing is more of a rattling, like putting some nuts and bolts in a glass jar, you may need to pull the valve cover off and inspect for yourself to make sure that the rocker arms do not have any play to them while they are pushing on the valves. If there is any play in the rocker side to side, you may need to replace those rockers. However, if there is any play up and down you may just need to replace the lifter. To better check if you need new valves or valve guides run through this checklist: Are you burning oil? Have you done a compression test (both wet and dry)? And if so, were the compression numbers within spec? Have you felt a loss in power/idle quality/gas mileage? Is your oil level correct/using the correct oil/non-FRAM oil filter? At your next oil change, instead of using the recommended 5W-30 engine oil, try switching to something a little heavier, such as 10W-30, to cancel out the effect of possible lifter tick. Do not use a FRAM oil filter if you have in the past since they're filters tend to have additives that are unnecessary and may cause the engine harm.
Q:I have a 2004 yfz 450 and in the passed 4 rides (about 2 hours long each), one of my valves has stayed down and been broken when the piston came back up and made contact with it. After putting it back together the first time i checked numerous times to make sure timing, valve movement, and camshaft movement were all correct. and just 2 rides later (today) the same thing happened again. I have not began work on it yet so i do not know if it is the same valve. But has anyone ever had this problem before? Is this something frequent with yfz's or am i missing an important maintence issue? And can anyone tell me why this is happening? All help and tips are much appreciated!! Thanks!!

Q:My new Trek 1000 has a type of valve stem different from the standard (car type) stem on my mountain bike. Do I need an adaptor to fit it to a pump or do I need a whole new pump? Also, have you seen a tire gauge that fits this stem type?

Q:Hi all,My buddys ford 460 has stuck valves. Where do I start? Could I notice anything by removing the valve covers, or do I have to remove the heads? Is it possible to unstick them without removing the heads? Assuming they stuck from sitting. What's the chance it bent the pushrods if it was running when they stuck? Can I check this without removing the heads? I'm not too familiar with this engine.

Q:How do you clean an EGR valve on a 1999 Ford Taurus DOHC? What do I do and what can I use? Will water work? I've read a lot about a plunger mechanism but I have no idea what this is. Please explain in the best detail you can how to remove, clean, and re install the EGR valve?
The egr valve doesnt get dirty on its own; if there is a problem with foreign material in it, its coming from the exhaust stream, not the valve. But if you need to clean it anyway, then just unbolt it, push in the valves plunger from the bottom, and pick out anything blocking the valve from closing. They do not plug up. Also, check to make sure the vapor holes where the valve bolts on are clean, they do plug up. the mechanics of it are pretty basic.
Q:I jsut got my valve cover replaced on my car what does that do?
it keeps the oil from flying out and also keeps dirt out of your engine.
Q:I accidentally pushed the pressure release valve on my hot water heater last night. It ran for a while, and did not stop. I turned the water off, the valve on the cold water piper above the water heater, and it stopped running. Will this stop running at some point? The overflow tray fills too quickly for me to drain it. When I turn the water back on it starts pouring out again. HELP!!!
