Q:The time has come to re shim my 06 450, and I am having a small problem (I think anyway). The exhaust valves have decreased to below the required spec and need to be replaced with thinner shims (as is usually the case), but the left intake valve has for some reason increased its valve clearance (from 0.16mm to 0.23mm). Is it normal for the valve clearance to increase? I thought they would only decrease... Any ideas? Unless the valve is being held open by something. Many thanks, Jim
not really normal as i ahve a honda 450 r quad and the valves need ajusted all the time but possibly something was in your fuel such as sand ar dust or any thing that shouldnt be running in your gas
Q:I have a no start on a briggs and straon 16.5 OHV. It has spark, and fuel. and backfire's through the intake. I took off the top of the motor to check the key way and it was in place. I think its a valve timing issue but what times the valve? I have not removed the flywheel yet because i need a puller. Is there another key way under the flywheel that times the valves
pull the valve cover , you got a busted intake rocker arm or a bent pushrod. maybe something else but id say 90% chance. edit: omg i said intake rocker lol. i mean't exhaust rocker arm /pushrod. the thing can't get the exhaust out so its popping out the intake likely.
Q:I had to replace the seat washers/stems etc in order for the constant drips from the kitchen faucet to stop. It did; but when i went under the sink to turn the water valves back on, the hot water valve felt as something inside it went smooth??? i can turn the hot water valve left and right but nothing is happening. No hot water at all from the kitchen faucet..Also there's low water pressure from the cold water that only came about when I tried to turn the hot water back on from the valve underneath the sink
Unfortunately most valves used today are made of plastic that only look like metal on the outside. Sounds to me like you and I live in the same house. I have to replace four different shut off valves because they are stripped. I am working on the kitchen one right now. Stripped Valve with no cold water and very little pressure in the other valve. If you ever have one replaced by a plumber, insist on all metal valves. I will physically inspect them from now on before they replace them. Once stripped nothing you can do but put a new one on.
Q:My 91 GMC Van has an Idle Control Valve that is unplugged, but the van still runs great. Will the valve being unplugged, result in harm to my vehicle?
As long as the eng check light isn't on then it will harm nothing. If the light is on but the van runs good it's because the computer is running in a fixed parameters ( emergency mode ) and it's not running at top potential.
Q:Okay, I got this lawnmower its a craftsman with a briggss and stratton engine, and I use this mower to cut grass in the summer. My question is, I have to get this mower serviced like every 2 weeks. See, the problem is always the valves comes out of adjustment. It only has 2 valves, and a long time ago, I broke one of the studs for the valves. And some guy put another valve on it. Ever since then it hasnt ran good. Iv'e took it many times to get it worked on, and it will run great for about 2 weeks. Then the valves go out it's very hard for it to turn over, and it wont run. Whats the deal here? I hear that you should only have to adjust your valves once a year. What could be wrong?
i can explain it a bit more personally just email me if you want me to i will be happy to help with this sort of problem!
Q:hello my names matt and i have a 1997 eclipse 2.0 non turbo with 94k miles and the semi circul seal on my valve cover gasket has a small leak that i see oil dripping and i dont think the pcv valve has ever bin replaced could any of those cause my exhaust to burn oil maby a bad fuel injector? theres no oil in the top of the engine on the spark plugs when i check them all, the piston rings and the headgasket r not worn or cracked so idk what it could be some one please help
Valve cover gasket no PCV yes.
Q:i heard i should get one rather than a Dump valve, well?, should i?
If you are referring to a big truck or a dump truck, A pressure release valve or pop-off valve let's air release out of the air system to keep the system from building up too much air pressure. A dump valve releases all of the air from the air ride suspension or pony axle.
Q:I have a 2001 Ford Ranger with a 4.0 V6. I recently broke the valve cover bolt on the top right hand corner of the passenger valve cover ( the bolt closest to the belt). 1. Can I drive it like this and since 7 of the 8 bolts are in it should it leak worse. 2. How do I fix it, and 3. How much would this cost to have fixed if I took it somewhere. Thanks for your help

Q:My cougar needs new EGR valve. They squeezed the 4.6 litre engine into it. My question is, how hard is it to get out and then back in? I can barely see the top of it behind the intake manifold so don't want to get it off and not be able to get it back in. What size bolts hold it in? I'm sure they are metric. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Before you do anything, go to your Auto Parts store and buy the manual for your wonderful Cougar. The $20.00 will be the best money spent if you plan on keeping that car for awhile. The instructions and diagrams will tell you how to or not to replace the EGR valve.
Q:Im trying to make an apparatus that would allow you to breathe in from one tube and exhale through another is their a valve that does this. I originally thought that a one way valve might work however I cannot find one that works with suction.
Position two backflow preventers in oposite directions on your supply and exhaust line. connect them to a Tee fitting. the third end of the tee is where you will breathe
