- Q:I have a problem in discovering the breakdown in the tower crane control panel. If you can give me a procedure to follow the problem in the control panel.
- Generally tower cranes have their electrical panels at the ground floor. Troubleshooting in the tower crane is not different to any other electrical system. First check the power circuit healthiness--switches,fuses,contactors and then go for control circuit. The cranes have few additional interlocks for excessive forward movement, extra long travel etc. Just go through the drawing and u will get the problem solved
- Q:There are a range of cranes to be selected for a particular type of job. Please provide any suitable method so that we narrow down our selection criteria .
- What is the load weight? How high is the lift? Obstruction, possibly needing a jib? If you are placing a load onto a roof, how far from the edge of the roof is the load going to be placed? How far from the crane pivot is the load on the ground and how far are you going to to move the load away from the crane to place it in position? How close can you get the crane to the load and to the load placement site. The usual scenario is to call a crane outfit and they will ask you these questions over the phone or come to the site and discuss the lift with you. A crane is rated for maximum lift as close, usually 10 feet,to the cab pivot center. As the distance increases, the maximum load that can be lifted, decreases. Our 15 ton crane can pick 15 tons/ 30,000 pounds at 10 feet from pivot center. With the boom fully extended; the boom is 100 feet, at a 30 degree angle, it can pick up only 5,000 pounds. Inside of every crane cab should be a chart that shows the lift capacity at various boom angles and boom lengths. Also is included is a chart for the Jib, if the crane has one. Wingman
- Q:My science teacher wants to know why cranes make work easier rather than just lifting an object yourself. She refers to the formula of force x distance. So i have to compare (in a way) the work of a human lifting an object and a crane lifting an object. Grrrr.... I hate this project!
- The type of crane she is referring to ia a simple pole with a fulcrum placed between the person operating the crane, and the mass to be lifted. Imagine a weightless pole with a rope tied to one end attached to a mass of weight 224 lbs The pole is 9 feet long Let's say the human weighs 112 lbs, or half of what is to be lifted. Without a crane, it will be difficult to lift that much and swing it around. With the crane, though, let's look at the advantage when a fulcrum is placed under the pole and the person pushes down on the pole to lift the weight. First, note that gravity is in favor of the person to use their weight on the pole. Using physics, with the fulcrum place at x from the mass to be lifted, the downward force of the person is F*(9-x)=224*x or F=224*x/(9-x) now plug in some values for x and compute the force: x F 4.5 224 3.5 143 2.5 86 1.5 45 0.5 13 I started by placing the fulcrum exactly in the middle and then moving the fulcrum in increments of 1 foot closer to the weight to be lifted Notice that the more pole towards the person pressing down, the less force the person has to apply to lift the weight. Also, note that when the fulcrum is in the middle, the person must apply a downward force equal to the weight - which willl be difficult foir a person that weighs 112lbs. However, once the fulcrum is placed 2.5 ft from the weight, the person only need apply 86 lbs of downward pressure. Leverage. j

- Q:I read a book a year ago about sadako sasaki who tried to make all 1000 paper cranes to live. Do you have to keep saying your wish over again when your making them, and when you finished making all 1000 how long did you wait until your wish came true??
- you make your wish once your done cause you only get the wish if you have 1000 cranes right so saying your wish when you only have 6 won't do anything. it can come true the next day till the next year or ten years it not something definite. I've never made 1000 but I think I will.
- Q:I have preliminary data: up to 2 tons of weight; work range of 40 meters; lifting torque 800KNm; lifting height 45m.. I encountered problems in the design, and some of its specific reference, I would like to ask here, for example, how much is the weight of its whole machine, how much is the balance weight, the balance of the radius of gyration? Super boom weight? (it's better to have the approximate weight of each component). - Q:Yesterday around 9pm I saw a crane fly flying around my living room so I got a pillow and threw it over it. Sadly it found a way to get out cause when I was going to the bathroom I saw it right by the tub and I ran out. Those things are always trying to fly to me. Anyways there attracted to light or whatever so I just turned off the light in the bathroom and living room, and shut the door! I heard my sister later in the night go in there but idk if she saw it or not. So should I just go to the bathroom or wait till my sis goes in there?!
