- Q:Can plastic tubes be used for underground applications?
- Yes, plastic tubes can be used for underground applications. - Cast Acrylic Tubes are used in many applications in place of extruded or molded acrylic because of better machining properties, greater clarity, better resistance to heat distortion and higher tensile strength. In short: yes, cast is stronger than extruded yes, it is easy to drill holes, just take it slow It is not cut and dry which one is stronger, they are actually quite similar in certain properties such as tensile strength, flexural strength, and compressive strength. I would recommend getting a small piece of each and trying them out in your application. Just so you know, PVC is going to be cheaper than Cast acrylic at these sizes.
- Q:An air core is no core except air.
- The purpose of a core in a transformer is to ensure as much as possible of the flux from one winding links the other. Also, we want the core to have a very small reluctance, so that the magnetising inductance (sometimes refered to as the mutual inductance) is very large. If it isnt, the transformer will have a large magnetising current i.e. it behaves as a shunt low value inductance, we need this inductance to be very high. Even if the powdered stones in the tube had a low reluctance (maybe they have alot of iron oxides in them?), the problem is that still most of the magnetic circuit is through air, so there is still a high reluctance. You need a closed magnetic circuit with a low reluctance material, or else you will need a very large number of turns on the windings, and they will need to be arranged carefully, to keep the leakage inductance low (flux from one winding that doesnt link with the other...) But what is the application? For low frequency power transformers we want a low leakage reactance and a very high magnetising reactance. For other kinds of transformers we might want a high leakage reactance (say a transformer to be used as a welder, the leakage reactance acts like a series choke to limit the short circuit current...). For broadband high frequency transformers, we want as little leakage inductance as possible, where as low magnetising inductance is not a problem at these frequencies. So usually we make transformers for this application with the two windings as one side of a twisted pair cable, or coax cable, and then have an air core. So how good a transformer core is depends on its application!

- As it was pointed out, copyright protection of the images almost certainly wouldn't apply. With the exception of estates, or other artificial entities existing through time that can identify their interest in the copyright, the copyright died with the photographer in all probability. Copyright protection exist for the life of the creator plus some number of years and that is only important if there is some form of inheritor. How would a judge rule? If litigated, the judge would rule according to how the law applied to the particulars of the case. That is the only thing they can do. Any speculation would mean postulating hypothetical facts and then having fun! Just as a person, I feel they should be able to copy the photos. As a photographer, I am very jealous of my copyrights and have turned down jobs where we couldn't come to an agreement on that. There are certain copyrights, such as the right to use the images for my own promotion, exhibition and otherwise help me in business. However, I don' t see a rational basis for preventing the copying of the photos no matter how I look at it - except for Walmart. Walmart doesn't want to get sued and, rationally, limits their exposure. The easy way to do that is have a blanket policy that may be ridiculus about proving you have the right to make copies, as it seems ridiculus here, but there is very little cost to them to either lose that customer, or not making the prints. The costs to handle even a very misguided lawsuit that will get tossed immediately make a cost/benefit analysis simple. - Q:me and my father were trying to fix a leaf blower(the cord you have to pull will come out but won't go in) and ran into a few problems. we had to pull the whole thing apart to get to it, and along with pulling everything off we had to take off the switches that handle choke and run, and the tubes connected to this device were corroded from gas left in the leaf blower. where can i buy this tubing, and some sealant for the tubes? i DO NOT want a website that i can order them from, i want an ACTUAL store in the Dallas fort worth area.
