Q:I have a duplex box and want to put two recepticles in it. Each have two connector post on each side. How do I wire this.
Take the black wire that is coming in to the box and pig tail 2 short pieces of wire (keep the wires the same color throughout as in use black wires to connect to black wires and white wires... )to it using a wire nut. Do the same to the white wire. For the green wire you will need to do the same if it is a plastic box or add 3 wires if it is a metal box. For the black connect 1 each of the pig tails to the brass screw for each receptacle. For the white do the same except go to the silver screws. For the ground 1 wire goes to the green screw on each receptacle and if required 1 goes to the box itself.
Q:while changing a lighting fixture i accidently pulled out the white wire while trying to strip it of the three caps in the electrical box im not sure which one it goes intheres a cap with two black wires and one white running too it another cap with three white wire running two it and a cap with a black wire running too it and the other black wire goes too the fixture which one of these caps do the white wire that connects too the fixture belong in?
Your fixture is wired as a switch loop. Power comes in at the ceiling box and continues onto other parts of the circuit from there as well. One of the pairs of wires is for the switch. The cable containing the black wire that went to the fixture also contains the white wire that is HOT and is connected to the remaining black wires. All the remaining white wires are neutral and need to be connected together with a wirenut. But before connecting them, also include a white 14-gauge pigtail with the connection. Use a beige or red wirenut. Yellow will be too small. After you've made the wiring connections, simply connect that white pigtail to the white wire of the fixture, and the black wire to the black.
Q:I'm cutting 18 gauge wire, so I can run valve wires to the timer in the garage. The plastic casing over the wire is pretty thick, so I had to squeeze hard. I accidentally cut into the color casing of the actual wire inside, so I want to start over. How can I cut this wire away, and start again?
Use a utility knife and cut around the casing then strip it off. Or run out to Home Depot and get yourself a wire cutter stripper tool.
Q:Why does a thin wire melt and a thick wire glow when put up to the terminals? Explain in terms of resistance and current. Thanks=]
A thin wire has a fairly good resistance to the flow of electricity, represented by say R ohms. Let V volts be the voltage across the terminals of a battery. The current I that flows through the resistance is given by I = V/R amperes, heat generated is V X I = V^2/R Now the internal resistance of a battery is very low and hence if R is in a certain range, I can be fairly high and the heat generated in the wire can be high enough to melt the wire. This is the concept used in a fuse to protect the remaining circuit from a melt down or a fire! When you use a thick wire, the resistance R is very low and hence a heavy current flows through the wire and makes it red hot.
Q:I have 2 connectionswire and wireless,im only connected to my wire how do I open a connection to my wireless?
You'd need a wireless router 1. Start Menu 2 .Connect to Go into wireless connections I.E. if your computer doesn't find the router that the wireless is hooked up to- than you need a WIRELESS ROUTER to do so.
Q:The wire I need only comes bare and I would like to try enameling it myself with polyester-imide or polyester-nylon, so that it comes out like magnet wire. What all would I need?
You can't use bare copper for coil windings. It would be like having a shorted coil. The varnish or enamel gives a coating thick enough to insulate from shorting and thin enough to allow for efficient induction. I don't see how you can make a winding without it touching itself at some point. Most coils overlap.
Q:I hooked up my Klipsch floor speakers with the old-cheapy wire and then bought, I think it was monster cable, and bi wired it. Big sound improvement. But I've heard pros and cons on monster cable. I have three zones to wire in my house. If I bi wire the other two zones what's the best wire to get? You can spend a small fortune on wire. If I bi wire, zone 2 would be 30 feet x 4 and zone 3 50 feet x 4. I read that if one of the wires is silver it's better as silver's the best conductor. This I knew already. But, when I bought the wire that I did, it didn't state anywhere on the label that it contained silver and I think that would be a drawing point. In fact, I didn't see any wire at that store that said it was part silver and it wasn't Walmart but a major electronics store. I did see some that had silver colored strains but so is steel and aluminum. I also read on another forum that CAT 5 wire works well for bi wiring? Thoughts? Opinion?
Do your speakers have clip in bare-wire type connections, rca connections (I doubt that, with Klipsch) or cat 5 connections? anyway, the whitish/silver wire is not actually silver... it's aluminum.. aluminum is a great conductor.... so is copper, and that would be the red side... Monster Wire is great stuff, used it in my car.... However, to save yourself some bucks, go to a hardware store, instead of an audio place... get some 10 or 8-gauge wire and hook 'em up... make sure it's aluminum.... you could get silver or gold, but c'mon... for the difference you'd be unhappy with how much you put out... $$$$ go with monster or go to the hardware store and get some heavy plastic-coated 8-gauge wire..
Q:When you electromagnetize a nail with wire coiled around it, then connect it to a small battery, how come it works when the wire has been been insulated,..... and what if you were to use uninsulated wire.
The insulation around the wire prevents the flow of current between wires, (shorting out the coil). It has no effect on the magnetic field created by the flow of current in the wires. If you tried uninsulated wire, you wouldn't have much of a field, as the current path would be short, direct from one end of the coil to the other with no 'turns` at all.
Q:I have 2 wires that go from the Solenoid to the wiring harness. But i don't know which wires go to where. One of the wires from the Solenoid it the remote switch and the other is the power for my whole interior. There are red, orange and black wires that come from the wiring harness. but i don't know which ones to use.
Your looking for a drive ,but if you would like to look for a starter try Competition Sales online. They deal with mostly Chevy performance parts. Good luck
Q:Will you please remove any of the wires? The edge of the body, which is made of wire or what? Is it copper or iron?
Residential electrical wiring generally uses only one layer of plastic insulated copper core wire, which is usually worn in plastic pipes or steel tubes, concealed in the wall, in order to avoid mechanical damage. Conductor part of the conductor in the structure of solid and twisted two kinds, and its components are pure metal, alloy, coating and enameled wire. (referring to the Baidu encyclopedia wire structure) metals cannot ignite, and copper has a melting point of more than 1000 degrees! No electricity, no electricity, of course. Does not rub with wood to produce electricity or sparks.
