- Q:I'm looking for a sheet of clear plastic to go on the back of a picture frame.It needs to be about 110cm by 60 cm and I suppose abut 3-4 mm thick.Basically the same as you'd use as the glass bit on the front of a frame.What should I be looking for? Perspex,acrylic?Any ideas on cost or what types of places to look for would art shops do this sort of thing?Any ideas welcome, I'm in Liverpool in the UK but general guidance needed too!Thanks.
- Afraid I really don't have a good answer to your question, but I do know that one photography trick for shooting through glass is to go to a thrift store or something and get a nice, unscratched piece of glass from a picture frame because supposedly the glass is glare free. Hopefully that helps you narrow down your search a little. A search for Liverpool Plastics brings up quite a few different businesses with phone numbers in your area. I'm not sure what kind of minimum order they might have, or how knowledgeable or time restricted the person on the phone might be, but it seems like it would be worth a shot to try that route. Online shipping charges can get pretty steep pretty quick.
- Q:There is extreme wetness near the base of the walls 1 perticurally to the south and west and one to the north and west sides. I have had the attic ventilation balanced and it has gotten a little better. I also forgot that there is tyvek on the exterior and the cedar siding is curving toward the outside. I had the worst of it (siding) replaced this summer. The heat registers have just been replaced because they were rotted. I am replacing a sliding door for the same reason. - FYI - if your drywall has lready been exposed to moisture, it should be replaced. There is a new type of moisture, moldresistant and mildew resistant rock out there called Humitek. It is a few steps better than regular greenboard. It goes for abt $0.50 per sf so it's a little more expensive than greenboard, but weel worth it.
- Q:Most of the iron-on transfers for dark fabrics that I have seen in arts and crafts stores are mainly for pictures. I need an iron-on transfer for letters and I'd like them to just transfer the part that's printed on, and nothing else. At shirt-making booths, they have these kinds of iron-ons that don't transfer the white background or opaque plastic-like film. I need that kind, but not in bulk. Thanks!
- You start buy getting the floor real clean getting rid of any dirt or oil spots. You can use latex if you wish. It may take two coats. The epoxy paints will also work fine but are a bit pricey.

- Hardware stores sell large sheets of plastic to lay down over furniture for protection when painting. But these sheets aren't sticky like you are describing. Those plastic sheets don't have any adhesive on them. They stick because the very clean plastic sheets are applied to other pieces of very clean plastic. The closest you can get to this with a product from a local store would be plastic window covering that is applied to a wet window then the excess water is squeegied out. Look for a store that specializes in window treatments. Ask for tinted window plastic. Auto supply stores often have this in sizes for car windows. Unfortunately these products are a lot more expensive than the sheets sold for painting.
