- Q:Are solar panels worth it?? I mean the price you by for them up front is a lot, so you properly need a loan for it. So how does it work? Won't the loan be just as much as you electric bill?Im just really confused about it.
- If your purchasing solar panels for a building or colony where a few families live together, the cost of the panels can be distributed or shared. And loan and electricity bill wont be the same. Loan is a one time transaction while electricity bill you have to pay monthly and everytime. You dont have to buy solar panels every month lol. So its a better option to spend on solar panels although it maybe a big amount, rather than paying high bills every month....
- Q:I've found something called maximum system voltage 000v on my 0 w panel nameplate. Its impossible for 0w to have 000v, right?
- System voltage is the total across the full chain of panels, when using multiple panels in series. It's what the insulation on the panel is rated to stand, to earth/ground, without breaking down. A device could have an output rating of V and still a 000V insulation rating. eg. if your 0W panel had an open-circuit voltage of 25V, the insulation is rated to stand up to 40 panels connected in series. (40 x 25 = 000V). And actually a 0W power source could be rated at 000V, if it's current rating was only 0 milliamps. (Though extremely impractical for a solar panel unit).

I am going off my own experience in my above statements Flat panel collectors work well in most areas for DHW. Evacuated tubes often run too hot which works well for some applications or high usage. Heating water is the single greatest energy usage other than space heating and cooling. It often surpasses the two above systems based on its widespread usage(every houshold in USA has one) and its the amount it is used(24/7@365) The amount of energy spent to heat water is by order of magnitude the greatest number out there. Having a solar thermal system providing hot water for a average American household is equivalent to taking 40,000 miles off the freeway in a car every year. The BTU's required to heat the water is huge. So why is this more developed cheaper and more efficient technology behind PV in awareness? Natural Gas the number one choice for heating water is cheap. It's by product is invisible and misunderstood. What I find fascinating is if you look at the increase in Natural Gas vs Electricity you will be surprised by how much it has jumped in the last seven years. It is not talked about nearly as much as electricity It does not get the same level of press that PV does. So in short the answer is cheap Natural Gas prices and public perception of this product have kept it off the list of many that are turning toward the green trend. It is less sexy than watching your meter spin backwards. It is the best improvement at the best cost except for conservation which is and was the most cost effective energy saving that can be employed

- If they're just to be used as an example, go around your neighborhood, and find a yard with solar yard lights. Then ask the owner whether you might borrow one or two. If they say no, move on and find another house. I'm pretty sure someone will say yes, after you explain what it's for. They will trust you, because you could have just stolen the lights, but instead asked. Option B is to have your parents take you to Fry's Electronics, and purchase a solar item, like a motion detector light, or even a standalone solar panel. As long as you don't mess up the box, you should be able to return it later for credit. But that's borderline dishonest, because you never intended to keep the merchandise.
