- I'm not sure I understand how you're trying to hook this up. It sounds like you've got two pairs of black and white wires? Were these installed with the intention of supporting a 220 volt device? You really should be seeing a black and a red wire, and measuring 220 volts between them. Try measuring between the two black wires - you'll either get 220 volts, or nothing (if they're on the same leg). What connections are available at the heater, and how are they labeled?

- The white wire to the coil is the tach wire. If you have the 4.3L,there is a white wire with a black tracer from the ignition control module to the coil. If that doesn't help,on the PCM,in the red connector,terminal 10 is the tach wire from the PCM to the Instrument cluster,this wire is also white.
- Q:I'm trying to use a stereo wire instead of a mono wire for an output from a circuit I've built. The problem is, the gold wire has been cut too short, and I'd rather not strip it back any further since I don't have a lot of cord to work with. Since there are three wires (red, white, gold - ground) can I use either the red or the white as output, and the remaining color for ground, or do I have to use the gold cable for the ground and let the remaining wire dangle (taped)?Thanks
- They're just wires - you can do what you want with them. You run the risk of forgetting that you've ignored the colour coding though!

- You need to hook three wires into a five terminal switch? You aren't helping us much with any usable information. The yellow wire is the kill wire from the magneto. The black and red wires are hot from the battery and feed to the starter solenoid, assuming the switch has a start position. You need to check each terminal on the switch with an ohm meter to determine which function it serves and test the black and red wires with a volt meter to determine which one is hot now. Better still, why don't you specify the make and model, even the serial number if you can get it, and ask if anyone, including your local dealer, has a wiring diagram for that particular machine.
- Q:I bought a new ceiling light and wired it myself. But I cheated by just copying the wiring from the old bracket into the new one. I want to do the other ceiling lights in my home. Supplied with the lights I am using is a 3 - way bracket (sori if terminology is wrong). Anyway the old bracket I copied was 4 way. My lights are wired from the mains supply with 3 live wires, 3 neutrals, and 3 positives. The light unit only has one live/neutral/positive wire. What do I do with the extra mains supply wires? I hope I have made myself clear as I even I am confused. Many thanks.
- Sounds like you have extra wires that are feeding other outlets or lights.
- Q:i am going to be installing a flood light outside, i am running the wire on the outside of the house. i have down some small electrical work light outlets and switches but not sure on running wire. i was looking at lowes at outdoor wire and there are different size gauges. just wondering what size or gauge is best to use for an outdoor flood light?
- you will want to run the wiring in pvc conduit or regular conduit if the wiring is going to be exposed. it all your going to run is the outdoor light you could use 14awg wire.
- Q:ok so i have 3 questions.i have an oldsmobile cuttlas supreme and i have a 0 gauge power wire that is 17 feet is that long enough???? and i have 0 gauge ground that is 17 feet is that long enough....and about the speaker wire..i have 8 gauge speaker wire that is 25 feet..is this a good setup.make sure u answer all these questions please thank you..
- the 17 ft of power wire is going to be fine. Just make sure you install an inline fuse by the battery. The 17ft of ground wire is a little bit too much, but you can cut that down. Make sure you ground the amp as close as possible so the voltage drop is minimal. The 8 guage speaker wire is way too high a gauge for speaker wire. You would be fine with 12, 14, or 16 gauge. The length needed depends on what speakers you plan to wire up. If its just subs then I would say thats more than enough. If you're powering components, you will need much more, probable close to 100. Overall it should be a good setup though.
- Q:i want to install a new light in a old house.the problem is that there are three black wires coming out of he ceilng.the old light fixture has two black wires. two ceiling wires are connected to one fixture wire and the other ceiling wire i connected to he other fixture wire.i dont know which is the hot wire and which is the comon wire.also the new light has a ground wire ,2 blue wires and 2 white wires but, there is no ground wire coming out of the box. please help
- a wire is a wire is a wire! the coatings were only put on to keep the continuity in sync. if you have all these blk wires, 2 go into 1 and connected to the lite and the other is connected to the lite, and there is no gnd wire. the 2 are running thru to another lite along the way as they did in those days. don't disconnect them, keep them together and call that your power/red or blk, the single coming down to the lite is the common/white...get tape and mark them so. electrical tape comes in colors. now you won't have that prob in the future. as for the gnd, you should have a metal box, just screw to that. at last resort if you have an attic, run a grn/gnd wire from a water pipe of someplace that will ground and wire nut it off. any Q shoot me an email...
- Q:I just installed a Unity Spotlight on my 2007 Chevy Impala. There's a 6 inch wire coming out of the handle. When I stripped the wire there is a few strands of copper wire. How do I wire up the light? There isn't a distinct positive or negative.
