- Q:I have noticed that the garbage disposal has jammed and not working,also it does not matter if its hot or cold water,the shock is very much there,also our house is old,so could be old wires somewhere causing this,
- I agree that the garbage disposal is the first suspect. However, it is not the only possibility. As also said, older homes sometimes grounded to galvanized water pipes. I once had a refrigerator that caused a mild shock. I discovered that there was a faulty connection in the sub panel that fed it. I would disconnect the electricity garbage disposal first and see if the basin still has current. If so, you need to do some checking with a meter. Good luck and be careful.
- Q:Plumber cannot find cause. Has cleaned trap under wash basin. Dug up outside to see if toilet trap is in good condition. Appears to be. Even outside wall has been removed to see if any other pipes are ok. Everything looks fine. I'm at a loss.
- Assuming that your sink drains fine ..... The trap keeps enough water in it to prevent sewage gasses from backing up into the sink (in your case). If the water is in the trap as it should be, the gasses CAN NOT back up to the sink, the question is why isn't the water staying in the trap like it should ( might be getting syphoned out) or the trap isn't installed properly, or the trap is leaking, it has to be one or the other. Are there other plumbing fixtures in the room that might be letting the gasses back up and it just smells like it's coming from the sink ? Just one rule to remember, if the water is in the trap as it should be, gasses can not back up.

- The wash basins? You forgot to include which country you are from but in Kenya they cost anything from Kshs.50 to Kshs 200 depending on the size. I have never heard of them being permanently installed in the bathroom but you can fill them with water and have a bath

- Environmentally - yes. It goes to the same waste management facility. For hygene reasons you probably would not want too have you ever dropped a toothbrush in the sink filled the sink to shave etc.....
- Q:in our dorm we have gang shower with out any partition, where most the guys take nude shower. i do the same. rooms are of double shared. no privacy either in room or in bathroom. i like to shave my pubes. in communal toilet i do it secretly at late night in front of wash basin. i was caught for 2/3 times, but none of them said anything to me. i found few guys shave in shower while others are also taking shower. what do think? which one is more decent...shaving in shower in day time or shaving in front of wash basin at late night?
- It wouldn't bother me as long as you don't leave a lot of hair in the shower drain. I'd say it's the easiest place, a sink basin sounds awkward and not appropriate. I go ahead and shave but maybe turn your back if possible, or wait until you are alone.
